Guys I’ve been making original kaiju out of rotocast resin for awhile now and it's time to break into vinyl. I’ve got a new figure, Babyface Heartskull, so I’m doing the fundraising thing; I'd be hionored if you took a look. If you choose to support me (please!) you'll get some sweet premiums. At the very least you should get laugh. The figure stands 5" high with a 12" horn-span. The figure is going to be made through Lulubell, and the 1st run paint apps done by Luke! The first (non-Kickstarter) version will be clear with black horns and inset tinsel. Prototype (still working on them teeth) Concept art Kachina Seijin #1 golden premium, eyeball variant
I would scrap it and start over. Stick closer to the concept art and get rid of the cliches. Baby faces in the chest? And that eye variant...kind of weird to just stick a googly eye on it where it makes no sense.
Crazy designs! I really like the Kachina design! I would proably agree on adding some more paint detail imo..Did you sculpt it? I saw one at lulubell in AZ.
Yes, I kinda sense too that you drifted away from the concept. I like that first drawing better. It translated into a sculpt of a much cartoon-like character. On the other hand I like the baby face pecs.
D'oh- forgot to include the Kickstarter link! http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1118605471/babyface-heartskull?ref=live
Thanks for the crit, I appreciate the comments. So much more helpful than those smug poseurs that really have nothing to say but say it anyway.
i'm sure there are bigger body issues than the horns, but right now... i just can't get past them. i looks like you just made one long horn, then wrapped a thin strip around and smoothed one side to make each "segment." i really think that the "insect leg-like" approach you did in the concept drawing would be a much more original (and unique) way to tackle those suckers. that's my constructive critique...
