as nice of a gesture as they are...they are becoming too much,,,clogging up the BST,,too much static..

all previous threads have been moved to the whatever section...

I appreciate the kind gesture, but these are so annoying.

There's bound to be a better format for people who want to give away shit they no longer want.

 

This is a terrible idea. Make a section "Garbage that nobody with half a brain cares about" and I think that would work a lot better.

now that I think of it, half of the posts on this cesspool of a board would probably be there...hmmm...

whats funny is i originally put my tshirt giveaway in the whatever section but then everyone was telling me they go in the bst section and i had it moved not to cause issues since everyone is always looking for something to nit pick so kewl right back where i put it... now back to complaining about people making kind gestures on the board...

There are 1853 members on the board.
Stick that in a random number generator. Go to the members page and contact the number you get. If they don't want what you have, try again.
you wont get to publicly display your kindness this way, so obviously the toy karma points wont count, but maybe the person who gets the item will post it in the "what you just got thread" and say from who and how they got it.

 

yeah and all those members are still active and might actually give a shit about what you want ... seriously that is a super impractical way of doing something. I seriously don't get all this malice towards people trying to spread a positive vibe by sharing stuff out of pocket.

 

If you relax and step back a second...Stop taking it as a personal attack. Giveaways and lotteries are fine for a lot of folks but they don't belong in the FOR SALE section.

A few years ago they were originally frowned upon and those threads were DELETED. Nowadays people are offering up random stuff for free and that hippie vibe seems more acceptable. It's just in the wrong forum.

 

I'm not disagreeing about the change in where it is placed... if you recall I originally posted my give away there myself. My problem is that people seem annoyed by people giving away toys and t-shirts to spread some sort of positive board moral. I'm not taking anything personal this has nothing to do with me or my life style choices. I just get tired of seeing people look for things to be annoyed about. Does it bog down the BST? Probably. Is it fair to move them somewhere that won't do that? Of course it is. But last I checked the whatever thread is for just that whatever. I get the move i don't get the people grumbling about the giveaways in general.

Considering the heavy traffic and multiple responses to each free lottery posting, I think creating a new Giveaway section of the board is the perfect solution.

I have to agree. Why not add it as an additional sub-section of the BST? For Sale, Wanted, Trade Bait, and Giveaways. Want to be involved, visit that section... if not, then don't. That way it wouldn't bog down either the Sales or the Whatever thread, but allow everyone who wants to participate a chance to without inconveniencing anybody?
