Well jeez I looked at the photos on the blog and was totally BLOWN AWAY by Lamour's talent. It is awesome, and amazing that he could accomplish something that looks so clean on that scale in a relatively brief amount of time.

I've seen some very amusing arguments about what comprises art on this board in the past but never one featuring a clown so truly ignorant and pretentious pretending to be the least pretentious guy in the room. Normally I stay clear of the high temp threads but this is freakin' ridiculous.

Rune-child if you think you carry some sort of swagger because you were doing vandal art in '94 in Denmark while enjoying the Jungle Brothers, you seriously need to have the riot act read to you by survivors of the late '70s early '80s scene in New York City, actual graf authorities if there ever were any. What big names like Rammellzee and Haring did before they were paid to do it was never for a second compromised by the fact that they ended up being gallery stars, nor did anyone with a brain think that their artistic voices lost significance once they did find some success. And those anonymous kids you refer to more often than not aspired to success. Talk about freakin' clueless!

"Sell out" is one of the dumbest criticisms that anyone can level at an artist. It's almost invariably a result of false constructs and false premises. Even uptight classicists recognize that historical artists had patrons and needed to make a living. Was Caravaggio a lazy phony because he took commissions from a Vatican that he was at odds with? Oh hell no.

I once went to AB for three years in a row (06-0...and while fun, made the fatigue I have during SDCC feel like I was on cocaine. It is a VERY overwhelming week...so anyone who can be there and make art at the same time (not just stand next to something that was done beforehand) gets big props from me.
