thanks to the crew who put this together, looks like it was a smashing success. I only wish I lived closer to SF ! Everything looks awesome, I really dig the photos...the level of creativity amongst you guys is very inspiring. And of course, thank you to the people who posted photos for us that live far away...
Flickr set from the show... didn't get a chance to shoot the photo entries as we got there late and had to bail early. http://www.flickr.com/photos/44878893@N00/sets/72157617069050494/ That was a packed show- probably the most crowded I have seen the store since last year's anniversary party. All of the customs and photograph pieces were really, really well done. It was very interesting to see each person's unique style in painting the toy, esp. when they were all lined up together. I hope we see another event like this in the future.
Great show. I go to a lot of art toy shows and rarely are there so many artists present. Also, KISS never stops by. Good to meet a bunch of you and reconnect. Just posted my write-up here. If anyone can help put the artists to the un-named pieces in the photo section, please drop me a note. I got almost everybody, but about a dozen pieces still elude me. http://www.toycyte.com/it-came-from-sku ... anese-toys
Thanks to Joe, I'm down to just three nameless photos. Any help appreciated. Sorry for the lack of photos of the photos. I was just telling someone the glare makes it such that you can see me in nearly every shot, and nobody wants that... http://www.toycyte.com/it-came-from-sku ... anese-toys
This was a great show and a great time! A blast to meet all of you that I did meet, wish I'd met the rest of you as well. Loved all the work, will be studying and practicing for years both on toys and photo because of all the great stuff I saw. Great big fat thank-yous to our curators, the way helpful and totally cool staff of S7 and to Mr. Flynn for putting on this event! Totally worth the trip and then some!
I see that some of the customs are up for sale on super7's site. Are they all going to be posted or just a select group?
Excellent video and reporting guys! Looks like an amazing show and a fun time at S7 I'll be keeping my eye on the web store...just might have to snag something...
hey folks! i will be getting the rest of the figures and the photos up online tomorrow. its just me here today, and manning the shop makes the process go slowly. thanks for the patience!
I am gonna ask this too. Is everything going to be online? Or just the things that did not sell at the show. It would be nice to see all the customs online even if they are sold.
A belated Thank You to all the people at Super 7 for hosting a wonderful show. There is so much talent here! Hubby and I had a LOT of fun. The art and customs were super cool. We arrived too late to see RedYoda's volcanic Gas Bawr erupt, but it was a great pleasure to meet you! The interactive Heavy-Metal Dempagon was fascinating. I wonder what he'd do with a Bemon? I think RedYoda is a secret Mad Scientist (in a good way! ), tinkering away in a deep dark basement to fashion the unexpected! It was a LOT of fun to chat with previous acquaintances as well as meet new people--many thankies to those who introduced themselves, I'm still trying to meet all the Boardies Everyone was so nice! I hope S7 will consider holding an annual show! P.S. I wish I'd arrived earlier, I also fell in love with the gilt-scrolled-framed Leafman photo by Plover (a show stealer!), congrats to the lucky owner!
Really great meeting you and your husband too Mr. H! Your were both so nice and I loved how supportive your hubby is of your awesome hobby! I'm so glad you liked my goofy electro-customs... I had a great time making them! I've got just one more theremin creature in the works. I honestly didn't care if I sold anything at ICFSB...just being part of the event was a dream come true... and the very first custom vinyl show for me. I have to say that seeing a custom toy I made for sale in the S7 online store is so cool and a little surreal. I was actually a little nervous going in to this, but the folk at S7 and everyone I met were so wonderful and nice that I immediately felt at ease and amongst friends.
spotted some of the customs up for sale on the s7 store. just wanted to say it is really awesome to see my work along with everyone's customs up on a site i have been buying from and browsing for 3 or 4 years now!
