My ex had that degree and she eventually leveraged it into marketing so don't give up. I have a STEM degree which you would think would be good but no- it's a double edged sword. They assume you have a masters or phd and are the next Einstein to get a job. On top of 10 years experience in the field and have 8 different post graduation certifications- all for just your first entry level job!
It's not really THAT huge of a deal (besides the school I went to being a total sham), I broke down and ended up getting my CDL so it worked out......except then THAT school I went to ended up being a total sham and waste of time. Whatever. I drive trucks now.
If I had a dollar for every one of my old friends and acquaintances that have given up and become a Lyft or Uber driver... Well, I could probably buy myself a good lunch.
I am taking a Wetland Delineation Certification @ Rutgers this spring (2 days in May, 4 in June) but thats it as far as me jumping through hoops to get a job. Degree, 2 internships, certifications, if no one wants me fuck em' they're missing out. Personally I'd rather make music, take pictures, and travel at this point in my life.
If you're going to get serious about music, you should try making a Patreon! Takes a little work because you need to figure out something to offer to subscribers, like exclusive previews or lossless audio files, but I've seen a lot of people do really well and make a solid amount per month doing it.
