@jvles - The frill is removable from the Marusan Jirass 450, so you could convert it over to a Toho Godzilla if you wanted to. @GoldenArmKid @akum6n - It's difficult to tell from that photo, but that new Bullmark "Giant" Gojira is a standard size 23cm! It really looks like a lot of fun. I was also surprised to see a new Bullmark reissue of the vintage UFO mini set, but with a revised Goji sculpt The new goji seems to be better suited to match the other minis along with the articulation at the waist rather than the head. They also slightly streamlined the head to look more like the Bullmark giant. Here is the original vintage set as a comparison: I will always love the original mini goji sculpt with the huge head though. The M1GO reissue mold should still be available though, as Yuji released a new version of that sculpt a few months ago. Also.... new GID Hedorah:
I've always been a little curious about any differences between the M1 and Bullmark Hedorahs. Are they indistinguishable? Or are there slight differences?
I just got one of the Bullmark yellow Hedorahs and will be scrutinizing it, but I've seen posts online indicating that it comes from different tooling than the M1GO reissues.
I was wondering about this myself, please do post some reports once you have had the chance to give it a good comparison, Roger. I actually really like the idea of doing some resculpting of the vintage minis. I was sort of optimistically hoping that they all might have some (maybe more minor) changes to them. For one, I think it is really nice to differentiate the two, but really I am just SO EXCITED for the possibility of new Bullmark minis. The new UFO set is definitely something I want to chase. I hope that these "reimagined" sculpts are only the beginning of a new wave, as some additional original output from Bullmark is always great news.
My guess is that those minis are being resculpted because of missing or broken tooling. But will there be an actual UFO in that set?
This guy has a few posts comparing the original and reissue Hedorahs. I think he says something about the sizes but Twitter's translation engine isn't so great: https://twitter.com/dai4_com
Ugh, I haven't had the urge to drop hundreds of dollars on toys in a very long time. But there are several new Hedorai (plural of Hedorah?) from Bullmark/M1 that look really great.
So what's that on the left - M1 I'm guessing? The new Bullmark on the right clearly seems a little bigger. https://twitter.com/dai4_com/status/1123546059475521541
That reissue mini set looks great, very interested, especially with the vintage set so hard to come by. The idea of new mini Bullmarks is very exciting, especially if there is some changes in the sculpts. Want to see that revised Goji up close!
Giant Goji and Mini set are fantastic! Anyone know if these are event exclusives or will be up on Bullmark for preorder?
According to this post, the new figures will be first available at the early summer Marusan Toy Festival on June 8th to celebrate Bullmark's 50th anniversary. The article also shows a trio of mini Hedorahs on clear vinyl: ...and a new mid-size Kanegon: Also, I compared the three standard size Hedorahs in my collection: vintage original, M1GO reissue, and the new Bullmark reissue. The sizes are all very close, but the new Bullmark reissue looks to be slightly larger by maybe a millimeter or two. All the engravings and footstamps are identical.
Damn...I've counted 16 Marusan exclusives so far for their 'Early Summer' Toy Festival this weekend... And those Hedorah are beauts...
Via @fujita_1013 on Instagram, there will be a special Ultra Q event at Aeon Cinema on 6/15. Bullmark and U.S. Toys will have a few exclusives, including this Pegira. Didn't see this reported elsewhere.
Concur, and fully intended I believe, in that Yuji's sculpt itself is a play off the vintage original giant Godzillas. This is just such a brilliant and fun re-imagining from my point of view. Just the right aesthetic for a vintage Goji mini, but at the same time the perfect 'neo' Bullmark accompaniment to the original release. I am not sure who is responsible for the new batch of Bullmark sculpts (or vintage mold re-tools), but it is clearly someone who knows the field and has the skills, and vision, to execute such great toys.
The M1GO "Bullmark" Godzilla... http://clubtokyo.org/listings/itemListingRpt.php?catID=1&subCatID=6&contentID=1869 ...is a Bullmark Jirass with the frill removed. http://clubtokyo.org/listings/itemListingRpt.php?catID=1&subCatID=12&contentID=1485
Mini Goji is incredible. I think the initial images didn't do it justice.I definitely need to hunt that set down now.
Maybe the clear vinyl is getting played out, but this Hedorah is really nice and matches with the recent set of mini Hedorahs! Currently on preorder; due out at the end of September. Posting as this does not seem to have been announced yet on the Bullmark website or other news sites.
That one is nice. I've seen people on Instagram posting pics of it from the latest paper flyer. How do I get on that mailing list? ;P
