The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread

This cute guy just showed up:

 

*Nom nom nom*... they're like potato chips.

 

STORY TIME: I got my first Obake Dogs at SDCC ‘13. Knew practically nothing about them, so I went home and Googled ‘em. This particular Dog immediately caught my eye and I REALLY wanted it for my newfound love and collection, so I threw it up in a wants list. My first “grail” of any toy. After doing so a fellow board member and Dog lover informed me that it was from a collaboration run with Whiz76, and that each painted Dog was a one off. Essentially, they told me it was long sold out and that I’d probably never seen it. Almost FIVE YEARS later I’m surfing Mandarake at 4:00 in the morning, and I scroll past an Obake Dog I know I don’t have. Took me a few seconds but once it registered what Dog it was, I shot up like a bullet out of bed. Scared the hell out of my lady. Needless to say, I ordered it in a panic, and now it is FINALLY in my home. So, so appreciative of my 64th Obake Dog.

WooHoo! She'll definitely have more gusto to support your toy collecting methods (and toy collection now!) And yes, that is coming from a female perspective

 

She’s already super supportive as it is, and even has a few shelves of her own! She’s also my biggest fan of my photography. So she more than deserves it, from multiple aspects outside of my sofubi craziness!

 

That's wonderful! It's good to hear that you both share interests in toys, and is supportive of you, she's definitely a catch!

@Mr. Humphreys That’s not a bad idea! I’ll have to dust her shelves for her first. But her three most prized items are the Deathra one off I bought her for our seventh anniversary, a Mockbat one off she got from Paul’s Gunnzo show last year, and a commissioned custom Uamou Ayako drew on for her, for her first visit to Tokyo!

 

I would love to see the custom Uamou. And if she likes cuteness, you should introduce her to Butanohana--then those shelves would really fill up fast, and she'd be browsing Mandarake at 4:00 am, alongside with you!

 

@Mr. Humphreys Oh, I don’t know about that! Ha ha. It took me an hour to convince her to just get a ticket for Paul’s lotto for the micro run Mockbat she wanted. She loves what she loves, but she’s much more deterred from the price tags than I. Plus, she’s a full time makeup artist, so that’s where her passion and finances reign.

 

I dunno, Buta is fairly addictive! Plus, they're very colorful and whimsical, and would appeal to her artistic side. Looking forward to seeing her toys!

I like to get one toy every two weeks. That keeps my addiction in check. But I even think that much is too many toys and too much money spent. Then a month like January hits and it's huge. Expecting February to be mellower but than I am waiting for a box of 5 items from Ummikko that is 4 months overdue with no word. Fingers crossed for that big month item to hit soon. Anyways, here's to January:
