It seems there is no thread about gamarah still. I think that frog was a great sculpture by Chen, and come with a cute omake.
Im a sucker for chuncky figures so Its definately one of my favorites, i was lucky enough to get one at dcon this past year and it has some details that are hard to catch at first glance, like a face right under his belly
anamorphic animal with pus blisters. I think this guy is shooting for a very specific market. and I feel like a total mark for liking it too much. Very neat toy, excellent paint apps.
This is one of the few "Chinese Wave" sofubi toys that I actually really like. I love frogs/toads. The nasty boils just make it creepier. My favorite has to be the Rigor Mortis one... I did love that movie, except for the end. Then again I seem to hate the way most movies end these days.... View this post on Instagram
Chinese wave is a terrible nomenclature. Especially with the quotes, lol. (im being ridiculous, btw) On that train, whoever is jumping on this wave does great at taking what the Americans are doing and mashing it up with the neo-kaiju stuff. Could this be a 'post-something' sofubi? When are we going to see then next big thing? I am really bored of everything that is coming out, but there are things in toys like this one that make me excited for whatever they might influence next. Chinese art is by far the best thing happening to the arts right now. As a side, i am very happy the urban movement is just about done and we have been moving away from that aesthetic. We reached critical mass on things wearing jordans/ spray cans/ flat brims pretty quickly.
