Unfortunately I missed the first version of this guy, but the 2nd seems to be an open order through the Medicom channels, so I figured it was a good time to start a thread for this toy. The head has always triggered thoughts of the Savage Dragon to me and it has that badlands, post apocalyptic vibe to it which always gets me. Release 1 Release 2
I am in love with this toy -- It's by far one of my favorite new releases of 2016. It checks a whole lot of boxes for me, design-wise, and is covered in nice little details (the third eye, the scales on the cyborg arm, the entire head, etc.). The head sculpt and the color of the first version gave me the same Savage Dragon vibe. View this post on Instagram View this post on Instagram
Really like how it looks as simple as vintage figures. Digging the whole Savage Dragon galactic reptilian vibe. This stuff is punk! And it's carded? Really?
I hadn't yet to see this guy but it is a super fun design. Plus I think you had me with Savage Dragon lol I love Erik Larsen for his Kirby art hoarding alone.
Glad he has his own thread now. This guy is punk as fuck. Masked sprays ftw. New color way is nice too. Already pumped for them to land.
Happy to finally have 1 on the way. Awesome design. Strongly reminds me of the old voltron action figures and old cyber punk anime. Edit: By "Voltron", I'm specifically referring to the villains.
Love this toy! One of my favorite grabs of 2016. I'm excited to see what else this company can produce.
Agreed, the blister card packaging is very cool as well. Hopefully will be able to grab a few more in the future.
I like this release a lot too. When I ordered it, I still favored the first version the most, but my opinion has changed since having him in hand. I love the paint on the head and how it appears different depending on the angle and the light. The cd was a fun plus. Ha, it may not be anything I'll ever listen to again, but it does expand on the feel of Medusa's universe. I have one complaint and it's kind of a big one. Within the packaging, the figure should have been put in a plastic bag or the bubble wrap should have been wrapped around the whole figure with a couple pieces of tape . I was lucky with mine, but @patrickvaz opened his up to discover Medusa had paint rubs on the back of both boots. [photo by @patrickvaz] Be sure to inspect yours carefully, especially the reverse side. I'd be surprised if his was the only one considering how loose the figure is under the plastic shell, with bubble wrap only placed between the shell and the front of the figure. Last I heard, Medicom wanted to make it right and Patrick had just shipped it back. Not sure if it'll be repaired or replaced, but while it's still a new release, if yours has issues too, now's the time to take care of it. I know that was disappointing to see on such a coveted toy, but I'm glad you'll have a shiny new scuff free version soon enough, Patrick. At least for who all else is in the same situation, it's cool to know that it can be fixed.
If you’re on the fence with these and like Exohead and Uzumark I’d recommend grabbing these. I have the two dragons and the scope figure and really like QC on them. I ordered the latest figure last week and can’t wait for it.
I ordered the latest figure the other day, though it says sold out on the site, you can find it on Jungle, they also had the latest Scope figure so I grabbed that as well.
Saw Scope a while ago but had no idea what it was called. I'll be ordering one if it's still up in a couple of days. Grateful for this thread
Got the figures the other day, just a few thoughts. The way the Scope is jointed, nothing really moves, the only playability is putting it on the platform. I don't really play with my toys more just display and admire them so it's ok with me. still a wonderful little sculpt and paint. Likewise for the Dragon, lots of parts but the way it's jointed the only thing that moves are the arms. It also has a green led in the head which is cool. Doesn't stand great, I'm used to heating and adjusting figures with single part leg/feet pieces, but I think the problem here is more one leg is slightly shorter than the other. Again a beautiful sculpt and paint. And typical of Japanese vinyl, there is a lot of cool shit going on but there are a few short comings.
