Lulubell had a mash-up mixed parts party over the weekend.. grab bags are now up online for sale if you're keen to get in on the action! Figured it would be a fun thread to see what people get in their mixed parts bags and what people end up creating with them. I hope the Otanoshimi bags become a regular thing at the new location - super fun & educational for people getting into the hobby.

Here's some shots from the weekend.. feel free to post more if you attended :)

No worries Robert! I'm curious actually - are some pieces just found toy bits? For example those flesh coloured kewpie arms on the plane-head guy.. they don't like like vinyl. Are they just found pieces?

Lots of fun, that's for sure. Luke was super helpful, we all made some pretty rad monsters.

I also learned more useful tricks despite having a bit of exposure from the grody DIY's from a few years back.

I'd say don't quote me, but here that's all too easy! Ha! But I think they're all vintage or used molds that Grody comes into and uses for his own creative purposes!

Luke is a genius at finding those oddities and making them work. I mean, all the repurposed sculpts he's used over the years and always aiming to make them so affordable. good times.

What tricks did you learn? I like mixing up some of my vinyl but I always feel like I'm going to ruin something by making some stupid mistake.

In regards to assembling it was small things like not heating up the vinyl too much when cutting flash, adjusting to the heat gun temperatures (everyone needs one of these), knowing which side to heat up during assembly (female, right Robert?), etc etc.
They were small but made a hell of a difference once you got going.

And in regards to the art of the mashup, how to be imaginative. Though I was a lot less so than others.

This looks fun. Was the AZ sun warm enough to make the vinyl soft, or did they have a heat gun on hand?

Was defiantly awesome to see all the weird and random vinyl in these bags. Took a min and put together this Neanderthalic Aracnid and tiny Buddha baby. Such an awesome idea and I hope we see some more releases like this. It's awesome to see somthing I created withen my shelves.

Very cool mashup Eric! I wasn't as adventurous as yourself.

Though we were in the somewhat cool 70's the sun was enough to get most of the vinyl prepped for cutting. Heat guns were available for in case we needed a bit more or had tougher vinyl we needed to cut.

Rad "Neanderthalic Aracnid" Eric! Cutting those holes in the side of the baby head must have been tricky.. Did you get a small or large bag?

Yea it was a bit harder than expected but I managed through it. I grabbed one of each. This is a mix from both. I got such an awesome array of things but had to really try and think outside the box. I got an awesome large size torso but no limbs or even anything close in size to use for the limbs so I'm hoping down the road we will see more over this type of thing.

Got my large bag in the mail today.. only took a few hours before I pulled the trigger and bought another large bag from Lulubell (they are still up online) tonight. I'm pretty happy with everything I got.. couple of things that I'm kind of "eh" about, hopefully the second bag offers some more options before I start putting these pieces together. I'm tempted to just keep the heads as they are.

Anybody know anything about the vintage looking kid in the beanie (red vinyl)? I'm really curious about what the rest of the body looks like... Maybe @The Moog might have some info?

I don't recognise the red kids head. It does look like a typical 50's style squeaker. The one you posted above from instagram
with the purple skull and white body - the body is from a 'Woodland Doll' - I've seen Luke use it before in the past . . . .
