Another missed omake opportunity... ...but at least he admits it! http://sofutoyakigangu.blogspot.com/201 ... 50321.html Anybody have any luck with the direct sale?
Fek, when did this happen? Masa, via saku_bun, hipped me to this second ChibaQ... Somebody guide me to either one, please! Fek.
The weekend is looking better all the time, with D. back to his regularly scheduled Buta updates. I am going to try and track down all three new releases, Windam and Sevenger are absolute must-haves. One of the best things about Butas is that I find them to be a perfectly acceptable, and sometimes even better, substitute for the OG vintage sculpts that I drool over. Windam is a perfect example. Just look at that texture. Yum.
Curse you for sharing those amazing images David! Love those lil' ChibaQs! The Windom is no slouch either. 3 new instant wants!
^Yup. Definitely see a reference to vintage Bullmark style. And Buta's not bothered that its the same vinyl base color that he'd use before. I like it that he's not trying to make unique art pieces. Balance stock for vinyl- use it. Balance paint- use it. Just like toy makers of old producing popular kaiju to make a living. No change from the day he started. No change from when they remained unsold for the longest time to selling out in minutes now. Well maybe the difference is he's making more now that they're selling like hotcakes. Thumbs up, Butanohana!
^ Cool compares Daddy D. Much appreciated! Honestly, I really like that buta surprises with secret/unexpected releases like ChibaQ. Mysteries of the Orient...! And this reg release is pretty out-there too! 6th Garamon...!!? (I'm still holding out for a wilder colorway though...)
I guess I spoke too soon about the lack of omake... Beggars/choosers, it could use a little paint, but still plenty fun. Are you ready for some football?
I need to find these! Butanohana website doesnt not take overseas orders right guys? Sorry for the Fresh Meat question.
^^^Yeah, he did say he decided against having the omake. Maybe he thought if he can't paint it then don't include it. Can't tell from the pic but I hope he sculpted in the details.
I did get a purplish marbled one that looks painted. Not much of detail in sculpt though. Although i am not sure if buta made these rugby balls themselves, feels more rubber than vinyl.
Oh? They come in different colors too? Maybe he bought a whole bunch of of miniatures or stationary? Good to know, Joe. Thanks.
Red and purple: And yes, it does look like a keshi from whatever the equivalent of a Hallmark store is over there.
I love the dime store omakes. Longneck has also done this to great effect (e.g. blank GID Moon Majin with skeleton). It gives more of a pachi vibe to a licensed toy in the case of Sevenger. Although Buta's crude but perfect creations already give off their own funky vibe. That shit is funky.
