... and the blue version is for sale in the BST right now. Not by me, that would never happen in one million years.
Should be easy to infer from the seatbelt pic, but he's roughly the size of a baby doll. It's my favorite Godzilla toy I've ever had. To go outdoors or in public to take pictures of this thing takes balls, it's no mini or medium figure that passersby will not notice. Every time I have taken him out I feel like onlookers think I just escaped an insane assylum
I bought it from a board member. He's definitely humungous and made of very thick, nice vinyl. It's my first toy of old thunder-thighs and it's definitely my current favorite toy by far.
Randomly searching for Gojira stuff on the bay recently turned up this guy. It wasn't listed as Beetland or Popy but I new it had to be one or the other, sure enough thanks to Club Tokyo, Beetland it was! I new of the lamps and toilet paper holders but had never seen this "Gojira Phone Rest!" He's almost 11 inches tall, when you rest your phone on his hands, he roars and speaks Japanese! I thought he'd be made out of hard plastic but he's actually vinyl with the exception of the battery housing under his spines ( which a portion pops off ) and of course the speaker in his belly. You can see how well he fits with the Popy/Slash repros in regards to sculpt style. The modern Marusan Gojiras are some of my favorites but this guy just took the top spot.
^^^^ Yeah Ralph! Awesome find for sure. The proportions on that Goji are so good. I like the skinny neck from the front view and how he looks like he's reaching to choke a fool out.
I'm still very glad someone else finally picked one up. Too bad there's not more of these bad boys to go around. For more size reference, I've got a couple pics. Holding a similar colored M1 mini: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2695/412 ... 0ca7_b.jpg Standing amongst some large standards, and giants: http://farm6.static.flickr.com/5047/535 ... 5929_b.jpg I thought I recalled this from a few pages back. It's so cool to see larger/better photos of it than the CT reference pic.
That is the M1 Haruo Nakajima as Godzilla. There are versions with both green and blue Goji legs. There was a brief thread with some details here, but I just checked and I think most of the images have vanished into the ether. I think the above is the Irisawa version.
Irisawa sold the blue version - still the most common - back in 2000, and M1 offered it directly through festivals the same year in brown. In 2004 there was a green-legged Toy Museum exclusive, then nothing until 2010... ...when both bronze and gold "statue" editions were offered at the Summer WonderFestival; Haruo Nakajima himself was in attendance to sign! Here's another old thread that mentions this wonderful toy: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=30161
This guy is my clear favorite until I can track down the one I had as a kid. Does anyone know what 7"-10" Goji my Grandma may have bought me here in America with a sparker in it around 77-80? Not much to go on I know but if I see it I will know it.
The Haruo Nakajima as Godzilla is so classic. I had the chance to pick one up a while back, but was paying off school at the time. Happy I have no debt, but sad I don't have this Goji.
