which one? because ken kept coming after tito wanting to win... he fought tito 2 times within a 6 month period.
I was just speaking figuratively. His record in the UFC was only 6-6-2. He may have been in it from the beginning, but his only impressive wins were the 2 times he beat Bas Rutten in Pancrase (my opinion of course)...
In my opinion I think Silva puts his hands down because at that moment, he's figured out his opponents range and is baiting his opponent to strike. A big part of Silva's stand up game is counter striking and in the Griffin and OKami fights, that strategy worked out perfectly.
I found this interesting tidbit in wikipedia. like the Brazillians watched him on TV and wanted to train with him or something. I find it a bit odd because I can't think of any US fighter that would want to train with him, but maybe it's their loss? "Anderson had originally sent me a little postcard saying, 'Please teach me your lethal stuff'. Because a lot of my students know that a lot of the stuff I have is punishing or effective, shall we say. They left a number, and the number was Jorge Guimaraes, the manager of those guys in Black House. He said, ‘Yeah, man, the guys all want to learn from you.’ I went over there and began". In regards to his teaching of the kicks he said: "With Lyoto, I came in probably five days before the (Couture) fight, something like that, started working on different kinds of elbows, different kinds of punching, different kinds of feetwork... but particularly the kick. I think against a lot of the guys who have spent a lot of their energy on wrestling, they’re not exactly what I would call great strikers. The kick can be very effective. This kick is different. This kick, the thing that's deceptive about it is that, the normal (technique) where you lift up your knee and you kick, this one I'm kind of trying to teach the guys to lead with the foot. I don’t want to say too much about it because I don't want to give it away completely to the world. It's different and it’s hard to see. It's very difficult to see coming, and that's how my guys have been successful with that."[15]
Its good advice, I guess. Kicking a guy squaw in the face seems pretty effective... I really want to see a Silva Leben rematch. I hope that happens before Silva moves on to another weight class...
So, did everyone see the special press conference? http://www.pancrase.org/ufc-137-special ... 9-08-2011/ Nick Diaz is off the upcoming card. To bad as I would have liked to see that fight, but I think Dana was right to give him the boot.
Ya, I don't really like Nick, so I was looking forward to him eating his words. ha. Also... Alistair Overeem vs Brock Lesnar!?! Eeeeee! I didn't know that match had been made. I'm excited for that one. My money is on Overeem.
Yeah Lesnar Overeem is going to be good. But I'm most looking foward to Jones vs Rampage. Rampage is probably my favorite fighter out there, and really the only guy, that it actually upsets me when he loses. I was breaking shit when he lost to Evans.
I used to think Rampage was unstoppable. Sorry, but key words being used to. Just like others before him, his better days might be behind him. I don't think he will be much of a challenge for Jones.
Sadly, I think Rampage will be outmatched by Jones as well. Rampage seems like a really cool/fun guy, and I really like him as a fighter. But I think he will be too slow to match up well against Jones. Diaz snuck out the back door of Cesar Gacie's house? And he's hiding from everyone?
JoeMan - I'm the same way with Shogun. I was so happy he came back after losing to Jones to crush Forrest. I don't know what I would have done if he'd lost. And Jones, the whole thing of him signing stuff "Champ 2011" prior to fighting Shogun, and then claiming to be so respectful and humble really bothered me. I"m hoping for Rampage to get the KO of the night, haha.
there is zero way Rampage is going to win this fight unless he gets really lucky with some crazy knock-out punch. having said this, I would really like to see him do it. Everybody loves an underdog
What?! I hope BJ comes in prepared and pissed off that he is not fighting GSP. Oh, and I hope he whoops Nick Diaz's ass good.
this Diaz vs GSP flip flop was one of the most bizarre and lame things I've ever seen in MMA. wtf??? I wanted to see GSP beat the shit out of him. now i'm hoping BJ can get the job done. will be interesting for sure. unfortunately I don't care about GSP vs Condit.
