Agreed. I'm looking forward to this movie (yea I know it's a marvel comics movie), but I hate what I'm seeing from this preview.
Kenneth Brannagh has done some pretty decent films but this has B-movie written all over it. I can't take it seriously.
Is that link broken or is it just me? I love Thor, I pray this is cheesey, who'd want to take Thor seriously? He's a big Nordic god who's all "FORSOOTH!" and "NEY!" and shit, it's TOTALLY what I want! If the trailer has nu-metal or "Scream-O" then I'd be upset.
http://toysrevil.blogspot.com/search/label/thor movie Its at the top of the page. As far as trailers go, its a jumbled mess, but I think they were in a hurry to get something together for comic con. It does look fairly cheesy at parts, but all the movies that have come out of Marvel studios have been (IMO) pretty good action, popcorn flicks. I'm pretty jazzed to see it, and am glad that studios are starting to give sort of obscure characters their own movies.
Remember KB's crapfest remake of Frankenstein (w/ DiNero as the monster?) KB was good w/ Shakespeare, will see how he does w/ the prose of Kirby & Lee.
IMO "Henry V" was fantastic, but all of his following Shakespeare movies are pretty weak, usually in a bloated sort of way (e.g. "Hamlet.") Given his penchant for bombast and his general competence, he was probably a good choice of directors for this vehicle. The trailer makes it look like the movie wants to be super-cheesy while taking itself seriously at the same time, which is probably the right balance to strike for "Thor," assuming he got the balance right. But I dunno. It looks full of tiresome cliches despite the eye candy. Oh look. They've got car explosions!
Haha! Well, thats fine but don't come crying to me when Sleipnir gets all pissed and goes looking for vengence.
Looks like they're going with the "Ultimates" version a bit more (like they have been) which is ok. Looks ok, I hope there's some point where he's talking all old school Norse God style and then some kid says "No maaaan, you can't talk like that here" and he's all "Why what does thou speak of youngling?" and the kid's all "like that man, you can't go round saying 'thou' and 'youngling' you gotta be coooool" and it all goes T2 from there.
