its a sad sad sight. i agree with HMS, occasional one or two maybe still tolerable but not these many. really disappointed to see this happening to a figure that i like so much. this must be a syndicate with different japanese shipping addresses. each purchase from this group will only further embolden their resolve to buy everything for resale. so, please stop doing so if you can.
IMO, his entrepreneur skills are most excellent. His prices are not too absorbent and he is giving the figure a better distribution thru whatever media he wishes. Based on his client list, most of the board members agree with what he is doing, heck his sales testaments shows. We have all been in that situation even the millions of dollars we have on hand won’t guarantee us an elusive figure. Only the after markets are the source for those who have truck loads of cash to unload. We at one time or another also buy for the sake of cashing in the trends, not cause we like it but in the pursue of our ‘Grail’ of the week. Like all corporate establishment, we hate them, but what are we gonna do about it ??
Born is M-World. Valuable for getting orders direct from Japan at retail with their fee of course. But I was bummed, when I wanted to order the day of Green Boogie from them only to get a response that it was sold out. Then I watched them list about 5 of them on Ebay, and ended up buying one for 200.
Agreed with BD comment on evil bay. This is a fucking place to flip our toys. We have to pay over market price for a toy which for our hobby. I think nobody here want to gain $ from selling or trading the toys IMO. Please all support BD6969 's comment: Be patient. Wait. Use other resources than just eBay.
Ha, I did not know that was him. I hardly find him available to get things at retail, he usually offers them up to the mail list at a flipped price not including his fees. I love getting emails that say URGENT! OMG SEND MONEY NOW SELL OUT!. However the Boogie being the main sculpt I collect I am used to paying $150-200 per. It sucks and they are worth it to me but Cure really doesnt offer any easy ways of obtaining their figures. I hope now that they have gained much more popularity with this sculpt they will look into better ways of distribution for overseas. Could S7 attempt to order these? I remember reading that only one of the staff was a fan of them, but they know many of us are so....
I was able to get a phone order in at 12:45. I had a friend that tried a little after 1:00 pm and he was given the dreaded "Sorry SOLD OUT"! It was only one per person so I'm assuming he was pretty limited?
Got the "sold out" email so guess notifications are going out. David Born will likely have 10 or so available.
The one he's selling atm is the regular but when those are gone I'd not be surprised to see him list a slew of the SB version, we'll see.
You are really lucky to get through that phone! The SB ver is an "Issue XXX" edition. I think an individual/group having 10 or so is quite improbable, that will be maybe half the edition size already.
I kept getting the busy signal and then it would just ring and ring and ring with no answer, then busy signal, then no answer........... I really thought it was an in shop only sale. I was just about ready to jump on the train and head over!! So yes I believe I was very lucky!!
i believe kirk is right... both are named masato,,,BUT have completely different surnames & both are in completely different regions of japan... they are not definitely connected because they share the same first name (masato is a common name in japan too)...i think people like to jump to conclusions....
i've stopped buying stuff from flippers.. unless i want something really bad and am willing to pay way over retail
these CAN be found for japanese retail on the after-market...i got the cure halloween version for yen retail,,by waiting a week as long as everybody does not jump on the flipper's offerings right after the release is "sold out"... the flippers will eventually sell them at cost once they realise that people will not buy them at inflated rates.. and hopefully they will stop buying up the first-run direct stock,,like they have done with rxh recently...and leave the sales to collectors
Yeah, guess. I may be wrong. I just assumed, because of the name, and I've had experiences with Mworld charging me more than their listed fees so that fed my suspicion. Sorry for jumping the gun.
So far i have seen the prices avg around 200-250 for this one =( i hope no one buys so price will drop
