Woooooah, I don’t know what that is- but I LOVE IT.

 

He’s a villain from barom1 his names frankenruge. I’ve been hunting him forever. It’s a repro but way better than the rainbow toys version.

 

Are these repros? It looks a lot more like the old Bandai figure, but the sculpt seems a little different.

It's a better balance than the Rainbow one, which I'm assuming was supposed to look more like the TV suit versus the vintage toy. I always thought they made the sculpt too smooth (although this was sort of Rainbow's 'look') and it diverged from the suit/toy design more than it should have.

 

I think you're right, I've never seen the original, but I assume you're right, because the medicom Barom Doesn't have a detachable mask, I just assumed because they did the repro devilman the rest would fall into line, but I will say that the Barom seem to be better made/painted than the Kamen riders they offer.

 

They aren’t repros- it’s part of the newer medicom retro series. All new sculpts of old characters.

 

can we really paste in images now? have we always been able to? anyway, my cometdebris/koji take for the past year, along with a couple of small (really tiny!) items from gamjam...

I don't get much in the mail these days (toy wise at least), but I've been hunting one of these for awhile and the lil' guy didn't disappoint.

@Mr. Humphreys I've seen those type of spaceships with pilots on Mandarake before, but the price vs my own color preferences always restrained me from picking one up. I like you got a proper silver spaceship. Hope you got a good deal!

 

@blakewest the Nostalgic Heroes Jetter Zoran Space Boy used to be fairly common place, but no more. I had to wait to get the silver space ship, so I passed on Mandarake's blue and white version. I was very lucky on the adoption fee, under $80 USD (not from Mandarake). Hagera by Amakuma is so whimsical! I missed out on the GID (nicer colors), but just had to have a creature on my table that looks like an Emu crossed with a Lil Abner schmoo head

Iirc mine had a bit of painted blood on the fangs.

Congrats! I hope you find Tom soon. I think I’ve been fortunate; I’ve only actively been after the set for about 5 years, and I’m not pursuing the Acroyears yet. But the wild thing it that I’ve owned two George’s and two John’s in those years. Both went to friends also searching for sets.

and spoiler alert: I opened George and Jesse about a week or two after that post. I couldn’t wait. I was redoing my shelves and the spots reserved for them looked too empty without them.

I was dithering as to whether I ‘needed’ this one due to the similarity to the other Icarus racer; however, at the behest of the little devil on my shoulder, @Mr. Humphreys , this speedy chap arrived today… and what a great push in the right direction it was!
