wow - this is my first post since 2009! i pretty much dropped out of the sofubi 'scene' when i left japan in '09 and disappeared from skullbrain entirely. most of my collection has sat in storage at my parents' while i have pursued other hobbies and general life stuff. with the exception of maybe five pieces (e.g. 1/1 gargamel x le merde that i bought from thrash out), i want to sell my collection - mostly secret base (primarily ghostfighters), realxhead, and gargamel with a few other randoms thrown in (e.g. cure, dream rocket, etc). what is the easiest way to go out about this - just make one massive post? absolutely clueless about how much stuff is worth in 2022, too - is there anywhere that i can get a rough idea? i'm in australia at present, so shipping will also be a factor. hope all are well. jake
You’re about to get flooded from all the sale to me bros trying to grab that vintage SB/RxH stuff. Usually keeping a 40% less than the eBay cost seems to be around ok. But that’s for the stuff I follow which isn’t what you’ve listed. I’d say list them at what you wish for and then wait to get flamed by the OGs. That way it stays true to the skullbrain spirit. Best of luck! Looking forward to the pictures
thanks, i will try to do some more research and post again in a month or two when i can visit my folks and take some photos. on the topic of OGs i have a RFSO tee buried somewhere...
Hi Jake, Id start making a list with numbered photographs, that way everything is cataloged. If you don't have the name or artist, it becomes designated to its number until you can properly label it. Re: pricing, for example if you are holding onto some rxh, some of it has gone up insanely, and others have almost no interest. The best way to handle this if you truly have no clue is to talk to someone who does have an idea on pricing and can at least give you some advice. For example While I'm decently knowledgeable on rxh and gargamel markets, I could say nothing about secret base or cure. You could also just price them around what you remember paying for them, but I think that might do yourself too much of a disservice. For many items price has gone up even if just due to rising manufacturing costs, and if you are looking to hook skullbrainers up with hard to find toys at reasonable prices, that's truly a great thing. But I think it's better to go into such a thing with full awareness of the value of what you are letting go of. If you want to talk about rxh or gargamel pricing feel free to dm me and I'll help as much as I can with giving you insight into the current market for these. Good luck.
Hi Jake, Sorry that your collecting kind of fell by the wayside, but I think most people here can probably understand some of that too. Amazing that you are willing to share it back here and keep it in the community - that is really the best outcome. I echo everyone's thoughts here, tough to say on the items en masse, and your best bet is to speak to someone who knows the current field- and massive kudos for Max for stepping up and volunteering his knowledge, that really is the best way I think. Just like no one here is looking to get ripped off, no one also {at least most people} wants to be ripping people off, so generally people will correct you if they think you are underselling some stuff. In terms of the actual logistics of the sale, really up to you. You can do one massive post, but expect a lot of work fielding questions, offers, coordinating who's first replies, and such. Breaking it up in chunks, if you are able, might be easier in the long run. Good luck with it, and welcome back to the scene, if only briefly. You're welcome to stick around just because, even if not actively collecting.
look at Zindabad's recent for sale thread. Right below yours. That's a perfect example of how to do it right if you want your toys to move, and keep it mostly clear.
I'm echoing everyone's sentiments but adding that I am in AU - Sydney. Let me know if you need help with the RXH
I'd like to build a world a home And furnish it with love Grow apple trees and honey bees And snow white turtle doves I'd like to teach the world to sing In perfect harmony I'd like to hold it in my arms And keep it company. PS... Any Neko Otoko knocking about, I'd be up for that shiz!
Pretty sure that National Lampoon did a cruel and tasteless rip of that song back when it was current. Quick; what was the product and what were the words to the parody version?
I'm sure there is just a lot to go through, particularly if you haven't been actively following this stuff for a long time.
