Ever wonder what tattoos look like on aging skin? Looks like they hold up quite well. Interesting article... https://mymodernmet.com/tattooed-se...cast&utm_content=link&utm_term=senior-tattoos Grandma is a badass! Lookin good...
Stumbled across this whilst helping my son look for a resource for a school project and found it mesmerising... they have made other videos but beware, it is a rabbit hole that, if you find it as enjoyable as I did, could cost you hours of time...
^^^ Interesting series of videos @Mr Fox ! Can't imagine how many hours it takes to construct all of those structures featured (er, yes, I did spend an hour... or two! ). Just can't get over how they imagine everything in 3D and craft it so effortlessly. I can't help but think that after a few seasons of heavy rains, the structures would suffer somewhat? It's medidative just watching their efforts in the background, while doing desk work. THANK YOU for sharing Mr. Fox! Your link led me to watch a few episodes by Primitive Technology Idea, these were fun... *I'm glad he didn't eat the chicken! Build your own Hobbit House... And finally a stone house... p.s looks like a great way to stay skinny and in shape too! Being "primitive" requires a lot of work! Phew!
I am always a big fan of the Ig Nobels. The 2021 awards were just handed out, and contained some properly suitable topics, to first maybe make you laugh, but then make you think. Biology Prize: Susanne Schötz, for analysing variations in purring, chirping, chattering, trilling, tweedling, murmuring, meowing, moaning, squeaking, hissing, yowling, howling, growling, and other modes of cat-human communication. Ecology Prize: Leila Satari and colleagues, for using genetic analysis to identify the different species of bacteria that reside in wads of discarded chewing gum stuck on pavements in various countries. Chemistry Prize: Jörg Wicker and colleagues, for chemically analysing the air inside movie theatres, to test whether the odours produced by an audience reliably indicate the levels of violence, sex, antisocial behaviour, drug use, and bad language in the movie the audience is watching. Economics Prize: Pavlo Blavatskyy, for discovering that the obesity of a country's politicians may be a good indicator of that country's corruption. Medicine Prize: Olcay Cem Bulut and colleagues, for demonstrating that sexual orgasms can be as effective as decongestant medicines at improving nasal breathing. Peace Prize: Ethan Beseris and colleagues, for testing the hypothesis that humans evolved beards to protect themselves from punches to the face. Physics Prize: Alessandro Corbetta and colleagues, for conducting experiments to learn why pedestrians do not constantly collide with other pedestrians. Kinetics Prize: Hisashi Murakami and colleagues, for conducting experiments to learn why pedestrians do sometimes collide with other pedestrians. Entomology Prize: John Mulrennan Jr and colleagues, for their research study "A New Method of Cockroach Control on Submarines". Transportation Prize: Robin Radcliffe and colleagues, for determining by experiment whether it is safer to transport an airborne rhinoceros upside down. Some good ones there, I particularly like the topics for Biology and Economics.
Grandma looks great, but by the same token, that tattoo looks (relatively) new and doesn't really show the effect of of ageing on ink when done young like some of the ex Navy guys.
Those violent Village People with their dangerous synchronised arm waving! Was it Iggy Poop that sang with the Stodges?
I noticed that the only Toygraph Racers that are GID, are the Matango Racers. Which got me to thinking about GID vinyl.... https://science.howstuffworks.com/innovation/science-questions/question388.htm
Very cool! Prolly a bit toxic, so I'll stick to buying them! Definitely interesting to watch though! Too bad radium is also very toxic, it glows REALLY well! Got to see it first hand at a toxic waste cleanup site
That guy is awesome: "My only issue is that the baby was not as creepy as I hoped it would be." I also could not help thinking of two things while watching this:
Happen to find this the other day, and I thought it was pretty cool. It is a [completely voluntarily set up] database of science fiction terms, and with historical links to their usage. Some really cool information there, if you are willing to dig. https://sfdictionary.com/ e.g.
There are a few very quintessentially 'Canadian' things, and seeing this article today reminded me of a good one. Man, I wish I central heating just for this. The Original Mitt'nBoot Dryer
Unicyclist during evening rush hour staying hydrated by balancing drink number 3 on is head. I think he had two Gatorades and one monster energy. Kudos, sir.
Neither "noteworthy" or "interesting" and quite possibly unseemly and lame to admit but the last few days have been incredibly moving to watch much of the UK, and Commonwealth, come together to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. From the street parties, to the general goodwill being shown between strangers, it feels like what we have needed after the last couple of years, followed by a side of hyper inflation and war-mongering. Does it negate those things, no! However, it is a welcome break from it and really nice to see so much positivity. From the bunting, to the coming together to celebrate the moment, it is a wonderful feeling. I know our American cousins threw our tea in the Boston harbour but I wish you all a great (non) Jubilee weekend. To those on this side on the pond, all the best and may your fish and chips be crispy, your tea piping hot and your peas mushy! Happy Jubilee!
What about Boris being booed?? I found it very interesting as I'm quite amazed by the fact that the British people doesn't seem to really care to have such a shamefull PM...
Can't comment on that because I don't know the event you are talking about; however, from personal opinion, regarding Boris, which seems to be a similar opinion to others I know, asking the public to isolate during lockdown and the serving government having a few gatherings (parties) yourself didn't go down well with much of the British public. Nevertheless, I don't think this differs from most politicians in all countries. The age old adage of power corrupting seems all too true and friends I have in other countries seem to vent the same frustrations we have in the UK: current incumbent not ideal BUT the alternatives just as bad. Anyway, that wasn't my point above. My point above was more at ground level and the overall good feeling the Jubilee has created. People organising street parties and getting together with neighbours they only normally say 'hello' to. Knitting groups decorating the tops of all the post boxes with knitted creations. Bunting being put up on homes, businesses and in villages and towns. The list goes on but the gist is people coming together in a positive way. I'm not a massive royalist and, in many ways, to me the Queen feels like the last of her kind; someone dedicated to service and her duty, never having embarrassed the country, unlike some of her family, in 70-years of service. I have a huge amount of respect for her as a person. Furthermore, she's had to put up with every politician in her 70 year reign and that in itself is a massive feat of endurance.
Depends where you live. I didn't notice much going on near me, not that I care because I've always been an anti-royalist anyway. But, if it made you feel better about the world, more power to you. The only thing I noticed was a solitary garden party down the street, bunch of loud drunken meat-heads shouting at each other over the worst music ever. Oh, what a joy. I did find it amusing Andrew conveniently catching Covid, so he couldn't attend. Nothing to do with him being exposed as a pedo, and not being allowed to attend regardless. He should be in prison, but of course they just threw money at the problem.
I have been really fascinated by this government, how it has been lying on so many topics (NI protocol, fast lane ppe, parties that were not parties, etc.) and yet is still in charge... well, being in charge being actually only trying to content the last shit show that has surfaced It's really a pity that the Queen cannot say what she thinks... Her first PM was Winston if I'm correct...Her last one my be Boris... how bad is that? I'm definitely not saying that we have better politicians around here, but I have the feeling the UK has somehow inherit its own Trump...
As one boardie reminds me, I'm down South and we're all soft down here Not a royalist by anyone's standards and there is a massive part of me that thinks we should wind it all up after the Queen. However, I do have admiration for her as an individual; the rest of them, at times, all too close to a Spitting Image skit and, as you said, at others a total travesty. Didn't make me 'feel better about the world' per say but it was nice to see community spirit. I am not so naive to see it for anything more than it is, short lived in the majority of cases, but give the great periods of isolation many of us have experienced in 2020-2021, it was nice to see people coming together; especially the elderly on our local streets, mixing with younger families, when many have felt very cut off for such long periods of time. If I'd been more organised, we could have had an SB party... I promise not to have made you wear a Union Jack hat or drink from a mug with the face of the Queen on it Moog
I’m in Scotland and I didn’t see a single piece of bunting anywhere. I was even in the Rangers part of Glasgow yesterday (and they love a Union Jack) and even they didn’t seem to be into it. I think some posh areas in Edinburgh closed off for street parties but it’s was really just another day north of the border.
