Found three yellow gyms today but only one was open to new trainers...anyone run into this? I was only able to fight the other two, not join them. :'(
Hit level 22 tonight, we went from 50,000 to hit 21, then 75,000 to hit 22, now it's 100,000 to hit 23
did 1-16 since the launch on Friday, and those Pidgeys are getting really hard to catch! Maybe it counts how many you've caught..? The others that I haven't trapped yet seem easier at the moment. I think maybe you need to keep beating them until the Gyms level/ prestige raises high enough for you to join. Still working it out myself.
the 10km eggs are awesome but when they hatch something like a Pinser when you already have like 10 of them you kind of want to scream hah Our first one hatched a Jynx which was cool! Hopefully 3 more hatching today
I am playing! Have about 5 days in and just hit level 20!!! I have 67 Pokemon in the Pokedex. Not seeing any that I am missing on the nearby anywhere, kinda frustrating. What is everybody's highest wild CP capture? At level 20 the highest I have seen was a 724 Ponyta which sadly only evolved into 1100.
Very jealous of people living in areas with lots of different types. I started 7/9 and have 59 in the Pokédex. Most of the uniques in that number are due to egg hatches. Apparently where I live is awesome for Pokéstops, but poor for Pokémon.
Incense + Lucky Egg + driving through GWB / NYC boosted my boyfriend from Lv 10 to 11 today. (I was piloting the phone for him as he drove, don't worry!) Also, if you're on a highway STOP AT A REST/SERVICE STOP. We kept stopping at service stations off the New Jersey Turnpike and anywhere from 4-10 Pokemon would spawn, including our prize catch of the day... SCYTHER!
I'm still level 8 since the day it came out when I dl it. The egg drop ratio got nerfed, I've noticed. I also have very little patience for crappy servers, because I walk miles in a day and it doesn't pick up much of my walking. One of the only things that keeps me coming back to it is the nostalgia aspect. Now I want Nintendo to release the OG games on the App Store just to play. A friend also told me that the fact my phone is so old contributes to the lack of connectivity. Fun game still.
Mine logs distance when it's still due to the gps configuring. All the turntable/ceiling fan "hacks" are bunk. Game knows if it's just going in circles. Any distance gained using those would also be gained sitting on a table.
My eggs don't have a problem hatching. The only problem I have is that 3 of the 10km eggs gave me Electabuzz. I don't need anymore of this guy! I just want a damned Dragonite already!
I would suggest not using lucky eggs. Sure these help you gain more experience and lvl up faster but you catch less Pokemon. Let's say you get to lvl 20 using lucky eggs, and your friend gets there without the eggs. He will have had to catch and evolve more than you in order to reach 20. So if your looking to catch as much as possible, I would suggest not using the lucky eggs
Yeah, I only use the lucky eggs when I am farming xp. Say when I have 10-15 Pidgeys to evolve and I am getting 2X xp!! Or maybe while I am sitting at a pokestop using a lure module. Other than that they are useless. Just hit Lvl 21 with 76 Pokemon in the Dex. My town is seriously hurting for some of them, my need to pick them up on vacation!
Went hunting an Electabuzz, got him, and caught a Lapras walking back. Very happy to have a job where leaving to hunt Pokémon is acceptable.
I was told to put my wi-fi on as well as gps, and it's done wonders for my tracking success. Don't ask me why. (In Finland, not sure if applicable elsewhere.) I'm level 14 and have 61 different pokemon. It's been mostly fun. I love to walk and having the extra incentive is great. But sitting still by a lure bores me (unless I'm all walked out).
I started playing last week at the behest of my friend's 6 year old son- I'm now close to level 21. YET I still don't understand how to track with the tracker being non-functional (heard they turned it off to ease the stress on the servers). I was right on top of a Blastoise and no matter what I did I couldn't figure out how to find him. Dunno what I'm doing wrong... I've read that you can basically cheat a little by running Ingress. Through Ingress, you can actually see where large amounts of pokemon are spawning. Yeah, I'm not doing that.
Ingress or Pokevision.com If you're in a city where all types of Pokemon are popping up, spare yourself from spoiling the fun and don't use either. If you live in a small suburban or rural area where all you find are Pidgey and Rattata, Pokevision is a godsend and pretty much the only way to know which street to walk down to find anything somewhat decent. (I'm serious, there are no Pokemon on my street. None at all. I have to scan my local area with Pokevision to know where to walk, and it's usually just a Venonat or Caterpie anyway.) Either way, radar is completely broken right now. Different phones see different things on their radar, the distances are all messed up, the paw prints don't change, it's all bugged up. The only thing it does right now is let you know what's basically within a half kilometer of you and that's about all.
