It’s a nice looking toy, but honestly, why was it made so fucking big? My display space and my finances are limited. That gives giant toys like this two strikes against it from the outset. I wish this trend of soft vinyl toys getting larger would come to an end.
I like the blush cheeks on this new one, but I agree, I prefer v2. I’m with Phil too, I was definitely surprised at how large this sculpt is. It’s definitely not detolf friendly.
I want the guts on the black blank to be painted silver. I like the simplicity of it, but that small change would make it the best. Maybe there will be future versions like that. The classic colorway is always going to be the most popular, that said I can't think of anyone who has strayed far from it on an Astroboy toy. Dune keeps releasing different belt and eye color versions but always flesh vinyl. I'd love to see some weirder colorways, maybe not on such a giant toy though. All in all, I'm glad to have scored 1 of these on my 3rd try.
Yeah, I'd love something psychedelic with weird colors. Not "swirly" psych, but non-Astro Boy colors of the same value like a lot of gig posters from the 60s/70s.

I do wonder if my lack of previous entries means I'll be low in the running when my ideal version finally comes out, but hey, I have a single room for toys. Question for brave Astro Boys and Girls: are the guts part of each limb, or separate parts altogether? I get the impression they could be separate from one photo I've seen of the blank with the fists taken off, but photos can be misleading that way.
every once in awhile Secret Base flexes and you remember why they were og's in this game*. That Astroboy is amazing! *Pushead toys always rip though.

Yep. What was once a collab seems like another uniqlo lineup. The excitement of fringe messing up the status is no longer there
I saw this in an email from SB: "BIG SCALE ASTRO BOY #3 Vintage Ver is now sold by lottery sales and we accept the international order as well. We have gotten many requests like please reproduce #1 Full color ver and so we produce this color version near to original though each colors are different with the original one. Normally we don’t re-produce and so we offer this colorway for now. Thanks for your understanding."

The new 1 is grey. Metallic was on the previous. When I read "vintage" I expected to see more of a matte finish like they did with previous releases(Felix the cat/Stay Puft) . It would have been nice to really differentiate the 2 more. That said, I didn't win the previous so going for this 1 is like a 2nd chance. The next release will be glow with metallic mech inserts. I would love to see a battle damage version like Denboku did years ago.

There is some subtle variation on the paint apps (re; green belt), but definitely the mechanical parts are by far the most noticeable.
