I had a dream I gathered a bunch of you vintage collectors here up in the SS Kaiju, and we flew Danger 5 style to Japan, and everyone had some ridiculous amount of cash to blow. Score after score for everyone...Guess I need to lay off drinking and watching that show before bedtime!
Now that is my kind of dream!! I would definitely enjoy a trip like that. Hope the mission was a successfull one. I always tend to wake up right at the moment of 'discovery' or 'purchase' and thus am always denied the joy of owning the toys I dig up - but the excitement and the chase is sure an emotional ride.
Had a dream a few nights ago that I received a mystery package with a purple and baby blue sofubi kaiju in it. I didn't remember buying it, and my mom was looking over my shoulder screaming at me for wasting my money on toys. I woke up with toys on my mind and after a bit of thinking, I realized my Zagora was missing. Found him wedged in the couch.
Had to do some digging to find this thread. So, I've been reading the infamous "angora patio" thread... Not surprised I had a dream about Nags. It was a post-apocalyptic dream, and everyone was trying to get out of the local high school and into the local elementary school. (Not exactly sure why, or why the hell I was back in high school.) There were huge snakes big enough to swallow a human hanging in trees, grizzly bears hiding in tunnels, and... Nagx3's. They were the size of small children, had that damn threaded hair, and would drop out of trees and tear you limb from limb. I managed to make it into the elementary school and barricaded a kindergarten room's windows with tables along with some other folks. From there it devolved into a dream where the real enemies were the people from within, and people with weapons trying to break in to take our food. Either way, fuckin' Nags.
Last night I dreamt of a horde of 'chalky' Booskas (and other unusual creatures) that was discovered/unearthed in an ancient abandoned cabinet of sorts. These then merged with crazy Mego-style Japanese versions of amazing superheroes (both actual and amalgamated from my imagination), hidden alongside. These 'toys' sadly don't even exist, so you will have to take my word on how cool they were. I have no idea where this came from in my subconscious, but thought I would share that here.
Had this dream last year where I was walking down a snowy mountain, or maybe it was more of an endless hill, and I kept discovering these brightly colored little toys, Buta-ish, of course, half buried in the snow as if they'd fallen from the satchel of an unseen person walking ahead of me. Picking them up as I went, taking a moment to admire each one, I ended up with quite the armload... and woke up to a very acute sense of disappointment.
^ I love this dream. Made that much more painful for the many times I too, have woken to that feeling. Beware toy trails, Woo sure knows how to lure some 'companionship.'
I can recount dreaming about digging up all my grails buried underneath a caravan in the backyard my family used to own when I was a kid. Also, I seem to have plenty of dreams where cash is of no importance and I go vintage toy shopping in Japan buying whatever the fuck I want. I guess that’s the beauty of dreams, they are not reality.
Some ongoing real-life struggles have made dreams few (and troubled) of late, but woke up this morning from Marusan 3rd type Garamon-induced heavy anxiety. It's a looonng conversation for another discussion, but what with the completely bonkers things that are taking place in vintage toy collecting [if you know, you know] this dream seems like all too much of a reality.
I keep having dreams where I‘m at some randomly dream-generated college and go into the campus store, only to see that they’re selling sofubi for super low prices because nobody knows what they are. I either try to buy them but don’t have enough cash, or I tell someone how much they’re really worth. Either way I never seem to get them. Mind you, they’re all pretty good sofubi, like late 2000’s/early 2010’s stuff. I hope I’ll at least buy the sofubi at some point… jeez brain, just try and make me happy please!
