Yeah dude, rescue/adoption is always the way.

There're way too many good dogs that need homes out there.

Before getting a dog I would urge you to really think it through though. If you're broke and possibly renting wherever you live, should you really be getting a dog? I've seen too many people think it's a great idea to get a dog when they really shouldn't because they're fucked when they have to move, or whatever and can't look after them anymore.

Listen to the Count, if you're broke you won't be able to properly care for a dog. Especially a French Bulldog - they have extremely short respiratory systems and require loads of care, which costs a lot of $. Example, I just took my Pug to the vet and the bill was over $260 for some tests, meds, etc. Take into account that rescues need even more care than most. Having said that, a broke master beats the pound any day. If you get a bulldog, make sure to read up on them. Keep them out of the sun, make sure they're ultra-cool on hot days, and clean their folds and wrinkles constantly to avoid fungus.

i actually already have a dog but i'm giving her to my aunt because her dog passed and she loves my pup. and by broke i mean i'm not going to some bredder to shell out 1,600 when i could and should adopt.

But you do have a great point about the vet bills. it would be pretty funny to have both myself and a dog with asthma haha. maybe i'm getting a bit ahead of myself but i've always wanted a bulldog but my experience with dogs has been with boxer's, shepard's, chou chou's and a few other breeds that have been over all healthy.

i have a boxer myself and had a rescue dog, and if that is something you're interested in, there are great organizations that do rescues for the breed, particularly the white boxers.

definitely heed count's advice. my dog's yearly checkup/workup at a new vet (the old place were mean) was over $500 last week.

I hear this, my white boxer should be bionic. He goes to the vet more than we eat.

Yeah dudes, my little white dog has had allergy issues his whole life and we used to go to the vet a lot and it has been expensive at times. I really have hated a majority of the vets we've gone to as well, they're always scamming clueless fuckwits that just try to do more things that they can charge us for....

one time they told us to call them over the week to give them updates on how he was doing on whatever new thing we were trying, so my girlfriend calls a couple times and then we find out they've charged our credit card for the time of the phone call, without even telling us they were going to!

mmm, is there confusion between ENglish Bulldogs and French Bulldogs here? I know English Bulldogs have all sorts of issues, but I thought French Bulldogs are a more sprightly bunch - and dont cost a ton to adopt. I could be wrong.

Our pugs came fomr teh Pasadena Pug Rescue - totally RAD guys! Do it!
