Listing some interesting auctions from the last month or so. I know some of you were also following these, but always curious if others are chasing any of these rare birds. Such a unique design. The helmet seems like something out of antiquity.

Funny, I was just going to post that Greenman auction. I assume the toy is rare? (duh).
I don't know of any other "Wood" toys other than the ones we listed here, way back when:
    http://toyboxdx.com/datafiles/data/wood/

I just realized that the Greenman on the toyboxdx page is different from the one on auction....!

This Guren Ghost Machinder went for 1,070,888 JPY the other day. As high as that is, I actually thought this one would go a lot higher, given the rarity....

(By the way, do these villain Machinders count here as they're essentially giant vinyls? ; )

@Robert D - Sure, that is an interesting auction all around.

Speaking of toys going for over a million yen, the Bullmark/Shimada Toy Minilla glow vinyl prototype sold for 1,001,000 yen. I believe this is the only known example and has been featured in a couple toy mooks over the decades. It was also the inspiration for M1GO's reissue and variants in similar colors:

Regarding the blue Megalon that the glow Minilla seller currently has up, I shared the auction with a friend of a friend and got this response:

Most certainly! All things considered, not a bad price.

Apart from warping (something that could potentially be remedied, though I wouldn't bother) it is in remarkable shape. You don't see these every day, much less in such beautiful condition.

It will be fascinating to see what comes of his brothers.

@Roger - We are all very interested in the provenance of these pieces, so who is the "friend of a friend"? I have also been trying to determine who the collector is that is selling. It is possible it could be Takashi Kuraji or Satoru Toki, or perhaps just somebody who bought some pieces from one of them over the years.

They asked that their name be kept out of the discussion. Neither of those names you mentioned came up.

I was wondering if it was going to hit the 10 million yen mark. Incredible. I wonder how many of these are left floating around. To my knowledge, that specimen is only the 4th or 5th to hit Y!JA over the last 20 years or so. It is in pretty good shape, and the box was included which I believe is a first. All that's missing is the projectiles. I've personally yet to see what those that came with the Mazinger Z villains look like.

For anyone who wants to learn more about this toy, this article is always a good read:

My knowledge here is spotty but we don't know how many were even produced, yes? So I guess every collector seriously pursuing a K7 has to face the distinct possibility that, when one appears on the open market, it might be the last one they will see in their lifetime.

Yes, i guess that explains the high price.
At some point, there were 2 min left and then the winning bidder had 10,000USD !

The Garada K7 kind of stole the show over the weekend, but the same seller also had a Rokuron Q9 up for auction that went for the price of a new car.

The overall condition is beautiful. I'm not sure I've ever seen one for sale with a box—at least what's left of one.

This Jumbo Machinder villain is a personal grail of mine, but it is simply out of reach for me. I've happily settled on Bear Model's recreation. But still, one can dream.
