(How do you properly embed video here??)

I was flipping around the channels last night and caught the tail end of a Simpsons episode. Sorry for the shaky cell phone video, but you get the gist.

He's a bartender at a resort and placing a paper umbrella in a drink?

I don't think that we're allowed to embed videos here. Guess we can't be trusted!

I'm not sure if I just forgot all about this moment or if it falls into the years that I'd just stopped paying attention to the Simpsons clan.

Last year I realized that I have missed MOST of the Simpsons. I stopped watching after season 8 because my life got more interesting  When the show first started, I was a junior in high school. Crap that was a long time ago. When MC Hammer played a stadium show in town, everybody got these Bart Simpson/MC Hammer mashup shirts.

Japanese seizure robots is good times.

Just caught the end. Now I guess I need to seek out the rest of the episode.

I never watch new Simpsons episodes, but I did happen to see the newest Treehouse of Horror episode from this season.
Here are the two quick pictures I took off my TV...

In spite of a number of decent and well-landed jokes about the history of the franchise, it was a bit of a bummer the amount of dismissive condescension they chose to level at the '54 original; a fine film by any metric. It really gave the impression that they hadn't bothered to have a look at that which they were lampooning.

Ah well, it's been years since I've expected much of anything from the program anyway.

^^Jeff, I got that Bartzilla... I just didn't get around to taking a pic of him this year for Halloween. Guess it'll have to wait another year.

and I just did a quick search wondering if simpsons ever did anything with a nod to ultraman and found this opening scene gem :!:

"In episode 7 of the 15th season, "'Tis The Fifteenth Season," which first aired December 14, 2003... As part of the usual special entrance The Simpsons did for each episode, everyone entered dressed as Japanese superheroes and anime characters: Lisa was Sailor Moon, Homer was Ultraman, Bart was Astroboy, Marge was Jun of Gatchaman, and Maggie was Pikachu. Mount Fuji was visible in the background of the scene, and a bus bench spelled out the word "Simpsons" in katakana. The episode itself, however, was not related to Japan or anime."
