What's up with the lack of trailers and general promotion for Episode 8 with about two months left before the release? Seems a bit odd considering previous installments.. even Rogue One had more promo at this stage

Loving the vintage acquisitions, Rei. FX-7 was one of my first, and still one of my favourites, from the Kenner line,despite his highly evident lack of playability. Making me feel that wee twinge of jealousy and nostalgia, you are.
They're part of my set of toys I've kept since childhood! Even then I was very finicky about keeping them in good shape; I even have all the original weapons.
Very nice, Rei!! You were definitely more disciplined than I, that is for sure. My figures came on me with many an adventure, including international skirmishes (though I was still a stickler about being careful). If you still have his original wand, I am definitely impressed.

Yes, that is an interesting catch Bryce. It is/was actually a genuine issue flightsuit (RAF), was design which was recycled/modified for several Star Wars characters through the first trilogy. A lot of these really interesting tidbits (see the origin of some other SW props as well, and the model kits used to bash together the miniatures) I find such a fascinating piece of history, wherein filmmakers really search out what was at hand to fit the need they had, and used their creativity and imagination to turn 'normal' realworld objects into futuristic ancient sci-fi fantasy. And in much the same way, legends like Ben Burtt became so established for doing this same thing in the realm of sounds. I honestly don't think this same sort of thing would ever happen - certainly not in any kind of mainstream way - in the film industry today.
Had about 24 hours for things to settle in and I can confidently say without a shadow of a doubt that Rian Johnson has made the worst Star Wars movie ever made.. no wonder Kylo Ren got so angry towards the end of the film. I know how you feel buddy!
