I talk to people on the phone 3-4 hours at a time now. To people who live 1000 miles away. Covid has brought me closer to friends from years ago. This shit has really taught me who I can depend upon.
you havent seen your boyfriend in 7 months? that's crazy. even more so about not going outside or taking a walk around the block or what not. the virus isn't "the fog" if you do your part in wearing a mask and being distant and such, you can still do things and dont have to be locked down in the house 24/7
Damn, my aunt has it. First positive person I know through one degree of separation. Part of an assisted living center outbreak--probably won't be good. In Ohio...where some of my family doesn't believe in this shit...hope they get on board now.

Yeah, but my mom is high-risk, and since I live with my parents it’s their rules. I’ve been told multiple times that if I leave the house, the door will be locked when I return.

CT is one of the safest states in the county for Covid. Just about everything is back to normal. If I were you just move in with your boyfriend and when this clears up and another 2 years go back home. Or get your own place. There is no reason for a healthy person to live like that in CT right now. Just wear a mask and your very safe.
Sadly my boyfriend lives with his mom, who he doesn’t get along with, so he doesn’t have a say in it. :/ Their house doesn’t have drinkable/safe tap water either. The whole place is really a huge dysfunctional mess... and it certainly doesn’t help that he lost his prospective job recently. He was going to finally move out with his second/third paycheck. So yeah... not really an option.
I'm trying hard to not get confrontational with people who refuse to wear a mask in shops. Its such a simple thing that 90% of people have accepted (admittedly there's a small percentage that only cover their mouth and not their nose). Nobody wants to wear one but we're getting on with it and doing our best to help. If you refuse to wear one without genuine medical reasons why you can't, you're a selfish bastard. Fuck any argument you have against it, you're a selfish bastard and don't even try to defend yourself. You suck.
The amount of videos sprouting online in various parts of the US showing grown ass adults throwing temper tantrums in businesses over masks is beyond embarrassing and warrants an ass beating. I just can’t even process what these assholes REALLY think is going to happen. Like...do they actually believe if they cry hard enough, as an adult(“adult”), they’ll just get their way? Fuck that. Your selfishness and crybaby bullshit doesn’t mean you get to recklessly put everyone around you at risk. “Oh, shit. This guy’s raging up a storm. This woman’s literally pouting on the floor with her arms crossed. This guy just bodied me with his conspiracy theories. Guess we just HAVE to let them go about their business, uninterrupted, without a mask. Everyone else is just gonna have to accept it!” The engraining of American customer pandering to ensure their returned business by way of “the customer is always right” has just paved the way for people to be flat out cunts to retails workers, even more so during this pandemic(in my opinion). I swear to Christ, dipshit Americans love screaming “This is the United States of America!!!” but completely disregard the “United” part, in favor of literally only thinking about themselves.
Not a day goes by since the pandemic started that I haven’t gotten in an altercation with someone for getting too close while not wearing a mask. It’s ridiculous. The videos are in all cultures and countries. It’s a bunch of selfish folk, it just so happens that Americans as always are the loudest and most obnoxious about it. I’m bummed to see how hard the US is eating shit from this one. I didn’t think I would live through the fall of the American empire tho. Brings my anti-imperialist heart a bit of bittersweet feelings. so many of my friends and family have now contracted COVID (being from Mexico and the US is a double whammy for me). It’s really scary. I go out as little as possible but just like everyone else there are unavoidable things you have to do. My dog can only stomach Trader Joe's brand dog food mixed with actual meat and veggies. Can't buy it anywhere online and they will only sell five cans at a time right now. So that is an essential thing for me every two weeks. A few days ago I was in line wearing my awesome Space Balls The Mask mask socially distancing from an older couple in front of me. This Trader Joe's is right next to a neat little skate park and there is usually a line to get in and there is always a kid out there offering free masks to everyone who walks by. Those individually wrapped surgical types. So the kid offers the older couple some masks since they didn't have any and he gets cussed out for being a brainwashed blah blah blah(insert homophobic and racial slurs here). Right after that it's time for them to go in the store and an employee tells them it's policy to wear a mask and they won't be given access otherwise. Round two of the cussing begins and the employee walks away saying he will get the manager and the police if needed. So the kid giving out free masks comes back up and offers them masks again and says they can have some to take with them too. Old grump fuck grabs him by the neck and pushes him against the wall. Almost instantly some random skater kid bops old dude who is choking the mask kid in the back of the head with his skateboard and dude's lights go the fuck out. Skater kid runs off, mask kid runs off, most of the people in line behind me take off too. So the lady with the dude who is laid flat out on the pavement dreaming of making america great again turns to me and tells me to go catch the skater kid and I said "Why? Like, to give him a prize or something?". Then I proceeded to go get my dog food and I bought 10 boxes of ice cream bars for all the random kids at the skate park. I don't condone violence but ignorant violence being met with justified violence deserves ice cream.

@Waterbear I’d have given so much to witness that happen. “Go catch that kid!” - “Why? The aggressor is asleep right here.” When someone goes out of there way to unnecessarily harm someone like that, and similar, much times worse, I absolutely believe sometimes violence is the answer. And even then I don’t consider it violence, but rather justifiable action. Imagine being that aggro about wearing a goddamn piece of fabric over your face for 20 minutes while grocery shopping. And all it got him was a concrete nap.
