Huh. Looking at some of my posts where I linked an ig photo, the photo no longer a shows either. Id be willing to bet it is a deliberate change in instagrams program to keep people from linking/hosting photos like that..: booo.
What the heck? Did IG do this on purpose or is there some temporary glitch? I also checked my old posts and all of the IG photo links are broken. Boooo.....
Ah shit. I know double-posting to imgur is a bit of a hassle, but doing it direct to my phone is still minimal extra effort. Worth it to have your shots preserved in high-res. The media link to instagram is still there in my posts btw, so clicking the image error icon takes you to the post. But yes, seems it can no longer pull the image. I'm going to dig a little more and see what I can turn up.
So this doesn't directly concern embedding images in webpages, more embedding posts (with comments and like buttons and junk). But it's possible that the change to oEmbeds from Instagram is what caused this break. The dates certainly line up.

As for the labour that goes into configuring that add-on and potentially fixing all the forum posts, I have no idea. I will try to work on a way for affected SBers to fix their posts. As in, something that makes it easy for you to batch-upload to imgur and paste an updated link into all of your SB posts. I'm buried these days though, so don't hold your breath
Before I even knew you could embed IG posts on here as links(I just didn’t notice the option ) I was just screen capping everything and uploading it to Imgur! A bit more of a troublesome option, but an option nonetheless until a hopeful fix makes way!
I never trusted ig to let us hotlink just Bc our toys are pretty. What a shame I’ve always just used imgr and left it at the mercy of the internet to be up for as long as it will
I particularly liked the IG linking because I could click it and look at the actual IG post, comments and all. Using imgur means I don’t know where the photo is from, not unless OP says so...
sharing photos online has been extremely a hassle since Photobucket decided to no longer be the leading picture hosting site. Flickr was pretty confusing too, yet doable with some time.
^ Ugh.. yeah... photobucket.... I've used them all the time, and now I cannot even access my photos/files to download them and get them off of that site without paying them... I finally joined IG so that I can follow artists and share my toy photos, and now this happened... I've tried using Flickr, but it's a pain in the arse... is the only other option Imgur? How do you guys/gals like that site?
I think Imgur is great. I’ve been using it for a couple years now since Photobucket fucked everything up. I’ve found that Imgur is just about the same process as PB used to be. Just upload images via the mobile app through my phone’s gallery, once it’s up it gives me a link to copy, and I bring ‘em here with the html. And I have my Imgur set to a private account, too, so I’m the only one with access to ‘em!
I need help! So I’ve downloaded the Imgur app and uploaded a photo. I’ve then copied the link but when I try and embed it onto a post I just end up with IMG and no photo. what am I doing wrong?
Stupid question from me I'm sure, but have you tried to just right click the image and copy paste it onto a post? It's what I do, but I use imgbb not Imgur, so might not be the same. I just dump my photos there without an account, at the mercy of the internet lords like @gatiio, knowing it one day will go away like everything else, I've learnt not to care anymore.
