So much to talk about, great way of putting himself back on the map.

Those of you out for NYCC, have you had the chance to get out there and see some of his stuff?

My favorites so far are the rat and people charging for it and yesterday's art stall.

The garden delivery truck was very clever, would've been great to stumble upon. Eternally pushing the creative envelope, that guy...

That art stand today was genius! Imagine how hard everyone who passed by that is kicking themselves now!
Has anyone checked the bay to see if any of the canvases have popped up?
I heard the first one, the kids and the graffiti sign was tagged up/over really fast though.. Which really pissed me off..

Had to watch "Exit Through The Gift Shop" once again after reading this thread.

i remember seeing and enjoying his rats around Bristol . . . way before anyone, including myself, knew who the fuck Banksy was. who-knew he would become so famous?

what made him stand-out, even back then, was his wry sense of humour. nice to see he still has it.

See, I don't really get this. I mean, those are pretty obvious Banksy pieces, and this is Central Park, not some back alley. So where is all this uber cool hip-to-the-scene New York cred we hear so much about? Anyways, I think Banksy is pretty goddamn brilliant, and a great artist to boot. I really respect his work and the messages. And no matter what some more current discussions say, I still hold by the fact that he completely orchestrated MBW as farce on the uppity art scene 'appreciating' street art.

Looks like the stall was probably set up east of Central Park around the Met/Gugenheim. No cool hipsters go to the Met or Gugenheim. Just a bunch of tourists. I imagine most people who saw them and actually would have an awareness they resembled Banksy, would just naturally think it was a rip off in his style.

Haha, oh I am sure you are right Joe. I should have mentioned that was all said tongue-in-cheek, just good natured poking fun at the chance to grab one of these pieces. ;) I am sure I would have thought they were just some rip-offs too, signature aside, but would have been mighty tempted to get one anyways at sixty bucks! (according to the BBC article, one of the women buying some haggled him down to half price! )

Even if they were rip off's...$60 is not a bad price at all ;)

Unfortunately, the lack of interest shows the cultural level of the vast majority of american people, the reason im saying this is because in the video, the lady from New Zealand bought a couple of those because it was more than obvious that she was familiarized with Banksy's work.

Wonder if, had anyone asked, would the old man at the stall confirm if these were actually done by Banksy. Either way, I would have love a rat, love his damn rats.

If I was in NY I would make Bansky's imitations and set up my own table in Central Park but charge $100 this time

Haha! I had the same thought! FLIPPER ALERT!

I'm not sure how I feel about this most recent installment.. At first I was kinda shocked about it, but on second look I thought maybe I was just at it the wrong way.. Maybe it's meant to be more of a tribute/Memorial sort of thing..

Wondering what everyone else's thoughts are

Trustocorp was putting up some interesting Bansky themed stuff. Google it, worth the take on it.

Still haven't seen a pic with "inside job" bombed on this. I hope it's real, and not just a bogus report.

I couldn't care less for Banksy or street art in general. ( Although i really like the green mexican rancher El Mac painted near my house.)
