Therein lies the problem of this 'scene' . . . Free with an $8.00 Happy Meal or $800+ for a subtle difference that no one in the real world gives a crap about!:lol:

Does anybody know if these guys were ever sold after that initial release in 2011? As much as I generally like IluIlu, these are probably the only toys of theirs I'd actually want to add to my collection.

Never re-released and never come up for sale. Depressing because they are pretty enchanting little toys.

I saw one come and go on Mandarake recently. I think that's the first one I've seen for sale since I started paying attention to the line four years ago. But I haven't been searching diligently.

Yea, I saw that one go up on Mandarake too. What kills me is that back when Grumble Toy still sold non-original stock, they put the entire set up for sale on their website.. Of course, I wasn't the one who eventually bought it...

    Wow!
Yeah if I ever run into a full carded set I am gonna click first and ask questions later. The toys in and of themselves are great but the display really makes the set IMHO.

Wait til you see how tiny he really is. We knew he was going to be small, but being the largest figure of the set, I didn't realize he was This shrimpy -

    ^ Not my image.

Until now I've been in the "I like Iluilu's sizing choices " camp. This gator bot would have been such a better toy at a larger size. I was under the impression it would be a similar size to the bigger guys, as a villain to fight, or to stomp the little bots trespassing on the base, but it looks to be the same size as those micro bots. It doesn't quite fit in with the littler guys tho; they have a toned down more minimalist look to em, while gator bot has the detail of the larger bots. Standing side by side the micros it's not going to have the tough look that was obviously intended by the sculpt, but that'd be the opposite had it been bigger. Need more Bowser, less Koopa Trooper.

SO glad I saw this pic before I attempted to go after a set. Love all the rest I've seen, but my case: that base is a waist of space in Iluilu's space-race. Save face, buy a vase.

EDIT: Not as bad it looks from that angle above, but I still think it's undersized.

Wow. Tiny. The concept is great and kudos to ilu ilu for constantly thinking out side the box. I love their originality.

100% agree  . Iluilu's one of the most innovative sofubi makers, if not the #1 maker. Always interesting, exciting, and inspiring...

    Another instagram find:

They go well together, but this also means that this latest TechnoLoader is fairly small too. Does anyone know how tall the latest TL actually is? Has to be smaller than Utsugiyo's Giyo (pictured a few posts above) and he's only about 6in if memory serves me right.

I feel exactly the same. As a kid almost all my toys were thrift store finds so I never really knew what toy was from what line and all that mattered was if it was fun to play with and nothing was ever in scale with anything else. This stuff all reminds my of that feeling, Almost random space toys and beasts that kind of fit together but don't look like a bunch of robots/monsters from the same team. I love it. Looking forward to getting something from them eventually.

Well some one nabbed it. It sold in less than a day. Cool toy but I agree on the screwball price.

I like it from the waist up, the legs look kinda weird to me..

Yes the legs are too much a direct copy of the dai apolon. for people who love the original this will be great. for people who have no nostalgia, then the legs are a little strange looking.

for some reason the new head reminds me of this dude.

I never owned warudaros as a child but I loved looking at the toy ads of him in the Japanese kids tv magazine.

I loved daiaclone when I was a kid. It is so great that ilu ilu brought it back in the vinyl art form.
I just cant get used to the new daiaclone 2015 reboot but techno loader series is incredible.

That is one of the micros that comes with the Atlas Alpha Techno Loader I believe.

Also I just saw the Angel Abbey color ways for Atlas and the planetary base that came out in the summer-fuck, those sure flew under the radar.

Would love to see that as well. A friend recommended I check out Ilu and all the Birato figures are just perfect to me; I see some were up for relatively nice prices on Mandarake, but those are probably long-gone listings. Anyone know what market is for those now?

  25. Michael Beverage

Those are indeed long gone- best advice is to just watch Manda and the auction sites to learn about the secondary prices. Usually any Ilu Ilu pieces in secondary market are 2-3x retail on a GOOD day depending on the sculpt, and I've seen some go really stupid high lately. I love Sakaguchi-san's stuff, but the aftermarket prices become harder and harder to stomach with every passing year when the toys are so tiny. The run sizes are always tiny as well and there is an outsized demand for any and everything Ilu Ilu puts out. And he doesn't release toys very often these days.

    Good luck.
