Been painting a bunch of these again... this one's named for an old swimming hole/Superfund site down the street from the house I grew up in- this is Ledgewood Basin Hedorah.

Really like this guy! Nice work on the wash, bringing out the contrast and details.

I can't believe these are handpainted! The transitions between colors are so smooth. Really nice color palettes, too.

    Thanks, Herr Poons! ;)

Oh, I meant to mention when I put him up: 2nd-to-last one (Ubu Roy Head... or... ah) was being worked on when Bowie died, and it became a tribute piece... hence the different eyes and the color in the top-o'-the-head cracks- the colors of DB's Berlin-era dye job!

Wow! I like these a lot. At first I was put off by the all-black eyes (on the one with the all-black eyes) but after a few seconds I see how it works. Bold choice and I'm for it! Nice work, dude!

Dustin, very much appreciate your comments, as I always dig your paints... honored to have you poke your head up, here!

And here he is, the sixth and final of my Y-MSF contemplation objects, simply dubbed "#6"... as usual, all handpaint, no airbrush...

I just would like to say how much I am really enjoying these Mich. The subtlety, the colour balance, the textures - you've really accomplished something very special with these guys. I think the Y-MSF Hedorah is an excellent template for your talent. Each one of these is unique, but there is your own touch connecting them all; you could easily curate a Hedo show man. I also really love how you have an inspired them for each of these smoggy fellas. I look forward to seeing the next ones to come. Thank you for sharing these with us.

Thank you very much, Steve! I really appreciate the kind words! I enjoy painting these Y-MSFs (although I am looking fwd to not doing any again for a while :D) quite a bit, and you're right- they're a great vehicle to show what you can do with color, because anything goes... there's little constraint, form-wise.

I have a few long-languishing things sitting on the workbench that need my attention now, and I'm trying to decide which to tackle first. Whatever I choose will be a real departure from the Hedorahs. I think I'm going to go with the giant, heavily-structurally-customized M-1giant Gary I started in late 2014 for GARAMANIACAL TOO but couldn't finish in time. In fact, I think I may get some inspiration from these Hedos to finally settle on a paint scheme for that beast...
