Spent the last few days reading The Goon and it did not disappoint.

The Goon is great, i haven't read the new GN yet though.....any good?. So is Peanuts.

I have to recommend 2001: a space odyssey by Jack Kirby too...especially the Marvel Treasury special, i found it today in a charity shop for £2 and my mind has been destroyed by it.

Not so much text. I've already gone through it twice. The art is awesome.

Now if I could put my hands on a Nekokappa toy ...

I just started reading Irredeemable by Mark Waid (Kingdom Come.) It's great so far, only 9 issues out so it's not too much to catch up on (both story and financially.) Pretty much, in it's own superhero world, what would happen if a "Superman" type went balls-to-the-walls mad and became a villain but with no known weakness? Fun stuff.

Otherwise nothing new is interesting me. I get bored/confused by mega-events and that's all that's out there it seems. I hate tie-ins.

Good rec. Just got up to issue 7 and it's

  7. Vombie

    Vombie Vintage

I read a couple pages of the first issue...might have to check it out. was hoping for a more gritty-style in the art dept.

If I was in the "superhero"s shoes, I would ditch the tights and do my dirty work buck-naked.

Well not actually reading it, more like lookin at the pretty pictures since it's in Japanese ;)

I really use it for studying the vintage style illustration pacing from panel to panel. Hmmmmmm, it still sounds like "lookin at the pretty pictures" :(

Y: The last man is awesome, Brian K. Vaughn is easily one of my favourite writers when it comes to comics.
It may look pretty bad from a first glance but if you into his writing check out the work he did for Runaways

I think my comic habit is worse than my toy habit.

I'm reading way too many titles these days, but of note:

    Invincible
    Walking Dead
    King City
    Crossed
    Dingo
    Chew
    DMZ
    Supergod
    Ignition City

    Prometheum5 Post Pimp

The first issue of Radical's The Last Days of American Crime was worth the wait... that series looks to be quite good, and it's only a 3-issue mini, so it's pretty manageable. Great art (really, quite fantastic painted work), snappy dialogue, and a pretty unique premise for a classic teched-up heist. You get a ton of book for your money to boot!

I liked how Y started but felt it really lost steam, I hate that. I never could get into DMZ either, it's a situation where I disagree with authors opinions and want to argue with them instead of continue reading. I also feel like a lot of ideas (socially) are so carbon-copy in comics a lot. It gets annoying and feels contrived, I don't feel like there's a lot of originality when it comes to that so I usually prefer books without heavy social messages. Again, because they feel forced/fake/regurgitated. It's great when they're fresh, so reading through a lot of it is worth it though.

Walking Dead is forever great but honestly I stopped about a year or 2 back and now I'm lost and don't know where I even left off or if I'd remember what was happening. I may have to start over, ugh!

I'm also super sick of mega-events. I know, I know, it's just the way things are, but UGH I don't CARE! If I want to read a Thor comic I don't want to have to know what's up with the Hulk or Doom or some shit, but somehow it all leaks over. "But dude, that's how it would happen in real life!" I DON'T CARE! I'm not reading Batman for "real life" I'm reading it for Batman.

Speaking of Batman, I wish they'd nix all the sidekicks, ya know? I mean, is the Bat even needed with 2 Robins, Batgirl, Batwoman, Nightwing (who's now Bats) and Huntress not to mention whoever the hell else shows up in Gotham? WTF?! He should fire all their asses when he comes back, it'd make Gotham more interesting to have him running shit on his own again, breath some freshness into it. It'd also be cool to see where all those kids end up w/o him. Obviously Damien would probably have to be a "regular" kid but how would he handle that after being trained by the League of Assassins than being Robin? Would Nightwing find another city (again) or just give it up for a while? I know these have been explored in the past, but I feel it's time to do it again.

I'm just done with most books, DC, Marvel and Indie stuff. I'll wait for trades to be released and get them half off on Amazon because then if I'm frustrated with the book at least I didn't pay full price.

Marvel is all "MEGA EVENT INVOLVING EVERYONE BUT REALLY JUST 2-3 MAJOR PEOPLE AND EVERYONE GETS SUCKED IN"
DC is all "LETS CHANGE THE UNIVERSE OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND BLARHG!"
Indie comics are all "LAME SOCIAL MESSAGES WE GOT FED IN ENGLISH LIT IN COLLEGE AND NOW WE THINK WE GOT SOMETHING TO SAY THOUGH WE'RE JUST REPEATING WHAT OUR TEACHER FED OUR ASSES AND 'ENLIGHTEND' US LET US 'ENLIGHTEN' YOU ALSO LETS RIP OFF ALAN MOORE REALLY POORLY"

Fuck! Rant over, sorry, I'm just not finding a lot that feels GOOD lateley. I'm just re-reading stuff I love from the past that's great AND IT STILL FEELS FRESH AND AMAZING! Old Man Logan ruled though. More of that please, but only if it doesn't rip "DKR" too much.

I totally am feeling event fatigue. I told my self after blackest night is done, I'm out of the mega event books for good. Yeah right, now they have this "brightest day "book coming out soon.Ugh. I am really enjoying Green Lantern rightnow though, you can't go wrong when Johns and Manhke our working together, the only other DC creative teams that are as good as those two would have to be Morrisson and quietly or Morrison and Manhke(sp).

I've had the Complete Popbot for a couple of years on my shelf but never got around to reading it... until a few days ago.

All I can say is WTF.

I'd seek out the trades with stories like "Judge Death" : John Wagner story and Brain Bolland art -top notch. Also, "Judge Death Lives" Wagner, Alan Grant and Bolland. A couple of the best JD storylines.
