They started funneling money after the owner of 2chan bought it and that makes a fair bit of business sense as the new owner would probably bring in a lot of 2ch users. Lots of exposure. Like what @hellointerloper is saying, its another massive board with anime nerds. It's not like goodsmile was posting the super evil stuff.
