who sculpts his toys. I know he paints these and the paint apps are amazing. I remember hearing that HS sculpted one of them. Just wondering who else. Those two new frankenstein/zombie figures are freaking awesome.
Hirota doesn’t sculpt his toys. I know Izumo sculpted the Flesh/Toxi Eaters and the Hellboy/Cat. Not sure who did the Ningyo, if not Izumo. Same with these new zombies.
I d i don’t think Hirota sculpts his own toys, from what I was told it’s Cosmo Liquid who does his toys. I could be wrong.
Cosmo liquid has and always will be the unsung hero of sculpting. He has hands down sculpted some of the coolest vinyl toys and often gets ZERO credit.
I know of one Hirota toy that’s for sure not sculpted by him, or Cosmo, possibly two. I think a lot of sculptors and painters go into projects knowing they won’t be credited at all. Just seems to be the way of how things are done, nor do they seem to mind.
To clear up the initial confusion, I believe the Toxic/Zombie Eaters vinyl were pulled in HxS factory - not sure about anything since then.
Maybe perhaps in a literal “on paper” sense? I’ve lost count of how many sculpts Cosmo’s done that have been revealed to me when I nonchalanty wondered about them in conversation. But I admittedly almost never see his name in print(or digitally). But as I mentioned before, that’s often the standard for a lot of figures.
This makes me love his work even more. I think his paint apps are insane and amazing and these sculpts of his are so original and awesome. The ningyo is my favorite toy, but each piece has so much originality. I just bought that naked man/ woman piece and I fucking love it.
What am I talking about? Rich..with the gargamel line...Kiyoka Ikeda sculpted and painted toys far outsell the other members of the crew. Paul Kaiju, MVH,Splurtt sculpted and painted toys sell well etc...However, as far as I've seen on this board...people don't collect toys because cosmo liquid created them. They collect Kaws x pushead (As far as I know you don't hear cosmo mentioned), they collect fink shit because of the fight figure lore or Hirota, they collect stomp or mongolion because it's s7 etc. I really haven't seen a show your cosmo liquid collection thread. Which is fine, I'm just saying there are certain people from the early days who know about Cosmo but within the past 5 years? Not so much. I don't even know his real name and I've been on board for 11 years.
Cosmo was credited on the KvP box at the insistence of Pushead (as well as on the Snowblower and Sour packaging and anything else he's sculpted). He is also keen to promote Cosmo and credit him whenever/wherever possible. The Finkshit is an odd one, in that Cosmo sculpted the body but I believe someone else developed the head. Good . . . fuck 'em! Satoshi Kondo.
You are! Cosmo sculpted some of the Pushead that Hirota manufactures, but Hirota sculpts ALL HS stuff (including the Itamu).
You just said he didn’t sculpt the Fink Shit... But to be honest I don’t really care either way if he did or didn’t sculpt any or all of his toys. As long as he came up with the idea the tools he uses to accomplish them don’t matter.
