so i'm probably getting Slobulus tattooed on my ribs (ouch) but i cant decide on old style or new style any suggestions? maybe a different madball altogether? maybe no madball at all?
I would totally get a madball tattoo. First instinct would be to go with the original, but I think the bottom pic (sketch of the newly released slob) would probably look cleaner. Slob would be my first choice, or maybe horn head. They're pretty much the two iconic madballs in my mind. Get slob, cause now I want a horn head tattoo! Let me know how the rib tattooing goes, I'm planning on getting a GPK tattoo on mine soon. Doesn't sound too comfy.
OLD STYLE! That picture alone would make a great tattoo just as it is. Maybe put some light purple fade around the outside to blend it in and you're ready to go! Know what would be sick? If you don't have anything on your chest yet (like where Bluebirds of Happiness would usually go), get a Madball on each pec with some fade going up to your shoulder (like the trail behind them after they were thrown).
I'm arguing for the new version for 2 reasons. 1: Not THAT different than the original (and isn't actually by the same guy?) 2: It has more boogers and slime, which is a plus. Also what Paulie said, it's cleaner and would work better as a tat.
I gotta go with the original version the new version is too clean and polished for me just make sure to get what YOU like
yeah i will - i just wanted to see what some likeminded people thought about pros and cons of each talking about it with my conservative coworkers wouldnt be quite the same
ah we'll see. i considered a sleeve or half sleeve of a pile of madballs or lots of random toys like that, but i dont know. i'll start with this one since it was my favorite as a kid... although i am leaning toward the redesign because i really like how it all flows together into the circle so well
Holy shit, that is awesome. I might really get that done. Normally, I would always recommend the classics as far as just about anything is concerned. Something about the new slob just seems like it would make a cleaner tattoo though. Better line definition, and yeah, definitely more snot and grossness. And plus, the design has stayed pretty true to the original, so it's not like it's a completely different thing.
well, the various madball art/photos are in the tattoo artist's hands. i had a meeting with him at noon today he is a older than me and had not seen madballs before... he thought the art was really cool. he liked slobulus and fist face i'm primarily planning a half sleeve around an existing robot tattoo he did for me awhile ago... an interstellar junkyard with robot parts, gears, etc. i'll probably be getting the madball around the same time
amen to that! wow, seeing those brings back some memories. I used to get the comic haha! that was terrible though. I still have the larger american football one boxed away somewhere... I forget the name of him now...?
The original LOOKS like an oldschool tat, so I'd say if that's what your going for its perfect. Tho i agree the new one is much fresher and I like it a lot. I also agree its so similar it really doesnt take away from the original idea and would make a nicer tattoo as long as you don't want the oldschool tat feel.. Either way great idea and be sure to let us see the results!
I think Splitting Headache would make a good tatoo; with it's Two-Face appeal. Plus it's a bit more obscure but still recognizable as a Madball. Goal Eater would be cool, too.
The great thing is, they pretty much already look like flash! If you get a good tattoo artist, they should be able to make this look amazing!
slobulus, old-school drawing. I know everyone has their favorites, but slobulus is pretty much king in my book. Fistface was always a weird one, I mean could he open that fist? he's like a reject from some other mad scientist's lab who the madballs adopted out of sympathy.
Don't get a Madball tatt,..... get a "madball with a mullet" knockoff instead! Found this at the thrift shop over the weekend. Ya gotta love the "VIGOROUSLY PROTECTED AGAINST IMITATIONS OF ANY TYPE" warning.
