for a while Nike and most of the top sneaker boutiques all worked with Medicom to design there own be@rs. there's quite a few Nike be@rs and even Medicom designed Nike shoes. initially it was all skateboarding shoe centric but grew.
how did it start? some believe Mark Parker toy lover of our kind sought a relationship with the toy subculture in general and Medicom specifically. have you seen pictures of his office??
Ooh, very good points, @trueadrn! I appreciate the insight! Outside of wearing Cortez’s since grade school I’ve never had a general interest in Nike’s, or sneakers in general. I had no idea Mark Parker(is he still creative CEO?) was a toy collector, but I can appreciate that genuine interest of reach!
i just think Nike was trying to figure out /recreate the success of Air Force 1 and Dunk, shoes that they don't advertise for or even change, but still manage to sell tons of mostly to "collectors". they sought this relationship with Medicom to explore collectors buying habits and ways to profit.
@trueadrn Makes total sense. And I’ve seen the Nike, Adidas, Stussy, Undefeated Be@rbricks, so I don’t know how I didn’t make the fan crossover connection just by gazing. My comprehension skills are awful!
