Jeez, that Gamera is iconic. WTF?!! Toygraph wasn’t even around very long and they just had hit after hit!
@grosspustule that blue Gamera is a winner. His head is my favorite of the releases. Until recently, I thought there were only 3 stadard size Gameras. Then I saw this 4th glittery boi pop up on Mandarake, nib. Unfortunately he's a bit sticky in the glitter spots, hopefully it will clear up in time, or I'll have to figure out maybe removing the glitter. It's tough to see the glitter but he has it on his chest, head, arms, and thighs. Anyway, it is interesting that Toygraph made 2 versions on flesh vinyl and 2 on glow vinyl. This glow 1 below pairs nicely with the flesh version painted mostly blue. Then the other flesh and glow versions pair nicely together as well. My post with the other 3 are posted on the previos page if you want to see them for reference.
@grosspustule - Love that Gamera. It's a beautiful sculpt. I will share in your enthusiasm for Toygraph flesh vinyl with blue metallic Hawaiian sprays. Here is my '54 poster style ShodaiGoji: Spoiler: more photos
Wow, so glad to see this thread come back to life, and the enthusiasm here for one of the best all-time toy makers. You guys have been posting some amazing examples, too! Argggh, killing me with envy. Sincere congratulations and deep toy respect bows to @grosspustule, @animator, and @deafmetal for those wonderful ones. I am afraid Toygraph toys have totally passed (much like Buta) into a different realm of collecting, of which I am no longer part, but I really am so thankful for what I was able to hunt down through the years, and deeply enjoying seeing these photos. Wonderful, guys!
Wow, Amazing shots @deafmetal !! That Goji is great! Something about peachy vinyl peaking through blue metallic sprays... so nice! And I've never seen that version of Gamera, @animator! Really cool! How does his shell look? Maybe it was a paint sample.. It really is too bad that ToyGraph isn't around anymore... They have such a unique quality that I don't really see in other soft vinyl
@grosspustule The shell reminds me of the Blue 1 too. It's green with a subtle silver spot in the middle.
I really like this guy. I think at first I was not as taken with him compared to the other TG sculpts, but that was largely because the first version I encountered was the Gargamel Thrash Out colour, which I think just didn't do the sculpt and character justice at all. I still think hiding the sculpt and especially that face behind such dark paints is a massive mistake, but can see some appreciation for it. But this - your version I mean - is without any question of hesitation phenomenal. The bright blue paints (really, has anyone come close to the Toygraph blues from any toy line? His paints are a whole other level) on that flesh base, with all the right areas showing through, the nice subtle touch offs with silver paint, and especially that amazing, just beautiful Mosu head he did, it's unbelievable. I love this toy. Fun but ferocious, exciting but relaxed, classic but new. It has it all (in spades). Congratulations Mark on having such a wonderful toy in your vinyl family.
