@deafmetal - Yeah Gigas is probably one of my favourite mini Bullmarks, although i am very fond of these two new additions. I especially like Cosmo Liquid as he seems to be doing some kind of fist pump.
I can only focus on repros at this time, but I wish I had discovered these years ago. More coming, so maybe I'll look at vintage once I find all the repros I'm after. The Windham and Ultraman #2 actually glow in the dark.
@djkemp - I have to agree with @Michael Beverage, that is a really excellent display case and collection. It looks ready for a museum. There is something about the stained wood with the vintage toys that just really appeals to me. @Vombie - Nothing wrong with the repros, especially for the price. I am glad to just have reissues of some of these rare Bullmarks that I might never see in the wild.
Yeah @djkemp that case is incredible. I have to look into vintage cases when I get set up again. They just appeal to me. Speaking of minis I just realized I do own Bullmark minis! I always think of their minis as monsters but I do own quite a bit of hero minis. Have to break them out for a shot sometime.
I don't think that I've seen that mini, certainly don't have one. Very impressive find and a nice shot too!
I've asked this before, didn't really get a def answer. Can anybody id the yellow Mikuras? Size, foot markings, detail all identical to the brown, bull stamp on right sole and the kanji on the left. Have not found another, but I'm sure that somebody here has seen it. A bullmark color variant is too much to hope for perhaps, but it is oddly conforming to the brown. Enough wear that it sure seems old enough or someone scuffed it up to give that impression.
Thank you. Many years ago someone had hinted as much, but I couldn't get confirmation. Considering that I wasn't out much, that was ok but a little sour. It wasn't that old at the time to be so beaten. Kind of amusing that somebody would wear it down so carefully to make an extra ten bucks. Thank you Dave!
Yeah I was going to say the same thing. I went and looked in vintage reference books and web sites and was unable to find this yellow miclas anywhere
Few new mini Bullmarks added to the collection today. King G Chameleking 2 Vakishim Gabora And a Nitto Zigra sneaked in
Thanks @poysntixels , on another note does anyone have a mini Takkong? I was recently looking at one when I noted it was 5” tall but described as a mini? Anyone have one to compare? 5” must be closer to standard scale right? Did they even make a mini Takkong?
If you can, track down a copy of Kazunori Saito's Beautiful Book of Monsters (ISBN 978-4-06214617-3), it is an excellent reference for all sizes of Godzilla and Ultraman toys by Marusan and Bullmark. It does show a mini Takkong, in addition to the middle, standard and giant sized ones. The mini toy looks like it's still pretty big compared to the other minis but I guess it's because of the design.
Club Tokyo has the mini Takkong in its database but confusingly talks about it being an alternate version of the middle. Anyway here is an old ebay listing, the sculpt is clearly different from the middle and I believe this is the mini. One came up on Mandarake very recently, I can’t for the life of me find the listing though. https://m.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Vintage...ltraman-Jack-/253400402105#vi__app-cvip-panel Also, here is Andy’s great writeup of the giant Takkong, definitely the grail of Bullmark giant figures...exceedingly chunky, rare, and prohibitively expensive. http://kaijukorner.blogspot.com/2016/04/super-rare-vintage-bullmark-takkong.html?m=1
@Roger That is one book I am yet to purchase, I will put it to the top of my list, sounds good. @Michael Beverage I also looked at Club Tokyo and was very confused with them saying the same sculpt was used for the middle and mini version? Doesn't really make any sense, however looking closely at the pictures the hands on top look different to me on the mini and I did manage to find what I think is a mini Takkong sold on Mandrake, they says it is 110mm in height which is much closer to mini size. Looks like if I do find one it's not going to be cheap! https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1017083300&ref=list
There are giant, standard, middle and mini size Takkong. I have the standard and middle sizes: The Mandarake example, although it states "middle size" is actually the mini. I think there is confusion because the toy is a few centimeters shorter than most other middle size. For what it's worth, my middle size is a little "squishier" than the usual Bullmark vinyl. The mini and middle are different sculpts. Also, anyone interested in vintage should own the Saito book mentioned by @Roger . It is the most complete and best organized book out there on Toho and Ultra sofubi. Several of Brian Flynn's toys are in there as is one now in my collection.
