I grabbed three this afternoon from mph and while the paint is not perfect, mine do not have any of the flaking problems you describe. To me, these are great. Mass produced and sloppy paint here and there, but at the end of the day it's a cute new sculpt from one of my favorite makers and I'm generally quite pleased with how medicom has handled all the releases. Also, at $8 a pop I really can't find too much to complain about.
Scheduled to be released in shop · MEDICOM TOY PLUS in January 2017 . I am getting a little frustrated about these plus releases only available in shop in Tokyo!
I'm not too bothered because I'm not an unpainted fan, but I'm sure it's annoying for people who do want to add some blanks to their collection. By the way, that release is actually a Lucky Bag.
Oh wown, I didn't even notice them amongst the blanks! I really hope they don't over paint them like they did with the mini Glutamine
He's been made in vinyl previously within the OG mini goga "trio" sets that contain beetle and panda manager.
TAG just got in the vag series that includes the Mazas. Gogas, Konatsu and Byrons. If anyone wants to get in on these, a whole set or individual colors, send me an email emanuel@toyartgallery.com
I think this colorway is better than some of the OG's personally, the translucent yellow vinyl works exceptionally well for the DB sculpt. The red vinyl release is dull in hand and disappointing, but I am still glad they released red since that may be the hardest colorway to come by in terms of the O.G.'s.
Still am not 100% sold on those eyebrows. I find it hard to get past them. Otherwise the yellow is beautiful... good choice to use milky yellow vinyl.
I hear you...It took me a while. I think it may be a nod to early depictions of Shuten-doji... https://printsofjapan.wordpress.com/2009/08/20/shuten-doji-酒呑童子-the-baddest-of-the-bad/ The blog is rambling but it is a great collection of Shuten-doji art. He appears to almost always be depicted with very prominent dark eyebrows.
Red is cool but it reminded me too much of some 50's mascot for like Devil cakes or something...too 'devily' if you will. Which sounds weird coming from me because I just posted pics of a mini devilman I love...lets just say we're all weirdos here with too many quirks to name no getting around that! Yellow is nice- great scores regardless Anthony.
Still not sold on the eyebrows and OG is OG IMO This isn't directed or slamming anyone who likes the Medicom. Or attempting to reduce the importance of the Medicom releases. Just my preference. That said, I've been buying other Medicom runs.
Rambling, but genius! I ended up reading that whole blog entry... Thanks for the link, I guess I now have some reading for waiting rooms and general downtime. Better than scouring horrible magazines, anyway.
Well the medicom paint jobs will never touch the OG's that is without a doubt. The milky yellow vinyl just really does it for me. I much prefer the subtlety of the OG eyebrows, but if I stretch my mind I can enjoy the Medicom eyebrows.
