not pissy. just it really is SSDD. not judging quality of the photos, which is excellent. But, mix it it up man! peace and love to all.
I did not mean a contest. It just sounds like you are telling Geo to step it up. (I am glad you have never said that to me)
I am not sure I get it. I don't recall anyone ever posting a pic of a Beacon kaiju on here. (I find it to be quite an interesting figure.) Lots and lots of pics of SB and stuff, and I don't recall complaints about those endless pics either. So what do you mean by "mix it up"? Is it just that you don't like more traditional kaiju, or what? Please be specific. Thanks! Also, there is nobody forcing you to look at any of my "shit." But when I see a pic of a figure I am not overly attracted to, I just move on, rather than toss an insult.
jeesh....can't a guy just express his opinion around here? Geo, what i mean is that you shoot the same shots for every toy. Everything on white all the time. That's all. You got have tough skin if you wanna be an artist. My work gets shit on all the time.
Sure you can express your opinion. But there are certainly different ways to do that. I happen to like that style using a white background and focussing primarily on the characteristics and shape of the toy, rather than standing in a rain puddle, or on as shelf in a house, or standing out at an industrial site. I happen to enjoy and respect both types of shots, but for my own purposes, I prefer the "focus" shot of the type that I usually post here. There is no one "right" way... it is very subjective. But even if I didn't like the out in the park shots or on the shelf with the light shining through, I wouldn't express my opinion by calling other people's "shit." Finally, I don't view myself in any way, shape, or form as an "artist." I am just sharing pics of toys in my collection. In any event, I do have a fairly thick skin - but it is kind of nonsense to fall back on "can't I express my opinion" or expect someone to just accept someone calling any of their input or postings to a board "shit" without some feeling of discomfort.
Learning to live with rudeness is fine, but it also doesn't hurt to point it out sometimes. If it is just ignored, it comes to be viewed as acceptable behaviour somehow.
IMHO, I happen to like Geo's pics and have told him so previously. They are uncluttered and extremely well focused, composed and lit. I think his pics bring out the essence of the toys he is placing on display. John
Here is some info about the Beacon monster: "Beacon spends most of his time simply hovering in the sky. He floats horizontally most of the time, even during his fight with Ultraman Jack. (He does stand upright but only briefly). He is basically a monster remote camera with eye-lenses. He is covered in strange coloured spikes and has tiny, ineffectual flippers. The general impression is that of a monster that 'wades' through the air like a fish swims through water! Makes disturbing echo-like noises too." Beacon is from "Ultraman Jack."
