People need to watch their kids and teach them to respect the animals from a distance... This isn't the Jungle Book, those animals aren't going to understand you. A bit of realism in a kid's life won't hurt. Tell them to keep away!

All of this. But also fuck some humans for being general turds and horrible individuals. In zoos and without. We are far fewer steps away from a dystopia than we can ever claim a utopia. And I think the shortness of crossing that distance is far smaller than a lot of people suspect.

I get what you are saying G, and that is completely fair. Nor do I disagree. We are too hasty in today's world to make judgements and come to conclusions, without a doubt. My comment in particular though is directed at the failure of basic humanity and complete irresponsibility that has happened in 'news' reports lately. There are good people, and definitely some amazing stories of kindness and selflessness out there, and those should be equally praised and discussed by everyone. But things like the parents who refused to help their diabetic son because they were in denial about his illness, leading him to die (after ostensibly suffering on and off for twelve years) at the age of 15, weighing 39 lbs, is just the latest case that has me gritting my teeth. The sheer senselessness of cases like these is what angers me. I wish I could say that this was an isolated case or a rare example, but we know this to not be true.

But anyways, life is difficult enough as it is without adding more to the mix. No sense dwelling on such things. Toys, eh? At least we can appreciate the simple, good things in life.

I just want to make it clear that the mother of the child posted a status on Facebook after the incident full of psychobabble about how "God protected her child that day" and so on. No mention of the gorilla. No mention of the unfortunate outcome of that encounter. No mention of how the child got in the enclosure.
Just "me me me God deemed me and my kid special me me me."

Maybe God put your kid in danger for a reason, to tell you to watch your darn kid. :|

^ Yeah pretty much taking no ownership of her piss poor parenting skills! Umm hello where were you and why were you not watching your child, leaving it to the gorilla to do it? So a gorilla has to die because of your mother of the year parenting skills. I just don't get how no one takes ownership of their own shit anymore. Like here in Buffalo. Some nitwit wasn't watching their kid and he was killed by a car when they wandered to close to the expressway. Now we all have to suffer because they changed the speed limit in that section to 30 MPH causing massive traffic jams every morning. I fucking hate people- take ownership of your responsibilities as a parent.

Also a big fuck you to Wegmans for making it increasing difficult to find fucking bleached flour. I'm all for promoting healthiness, making food less processed etc. It's better for you I get it. But I'm sorry when I want to bake a dessert unbleached wheat flour ain't fucking cutting it. I've used it in chocolate chip cookies and it sucks. Every fucking time I go to Wegmans I get tricked in to buying this damn unbleached flour (I mean how often do you buy flour?). They put their own storebrand (which is cheaper) next to the major bleached flour brands as all purpose, and I fall for it every time. Had to peddle my bike back there yesterday as I realized I did it again a mile down the road.

Sorry bleached flour works best in baking IMO. Fuck you Wegmans. (Yeah I made brownies from scratch).

Fuck me for losing my credit card in my own house. I swear, sometimes I put things in the dumbest places without thinking.

    If anyone needs some stories:
I once found my phone in my pillowcase.
    Once in a shoe.
Once under a pile of clothes.
Countless times in my own pocket while I was searching.
Once while in my other hand.

I don't know where my brain goes when I put things in dumb places, but I know that somewhere stupid, my credit card awaits my discovery.

    Did you check the fridge?

EDIT: Haha, don't read too much into that. I'm notorious for putting laundry in there.

Hope you've found it by now.

And pick up a salad once in awhile, okay, doll?

I've put cereal in the fridge before when I meant to put the milk there...
But alas, no credit card. Guess if it doesn't show up by the end of the week I'll call the bank and get a new one... Just got a new one a few months ago, too. Could be worse, I could have had my info stolen again.

Horrible tragedy, disgusting that we live in a country where it still occurs enough for some people to not be phased.

Can we just not start turning this into a talk about guns?
No one has an answer that will work. I talked to so many Australians, citizens can't legally own guns, and they felt
that getting rid of all guns wouldn't work in America.

^ Meaning that it didn't do them any good, or that it just doesn't seem possible to them that anything similar could happen / would help in America?

None of them ever took into account that guns run through Mexico as well. It wouldnt be that easy to get guns into Australia if they were more into our mindset.

I'm just dumbfounded that someone who was on an FBI watchlist, marked as an ISIS sympathizer didn't have their right to bear arms revoked. Why didn't that show up in a background check? Or did he obtain his gun illegally?
The gun debate in the US is unique and complicated. I don't think it can be compared to any other country effectively.

Well, I don't think that is true necessary Maddie, but I also think even having a 'debate' would be a welcome start.

And David, while I am not one to maybe complain against making blanket statements, I would say it is as much the user that bears responsibility as the machine.

Suffice it to say though, against all points, this is clearly a very serious issue that cannot go on being ignored.

Oh, so many targets to shoot fuck yous at on this one, the delusional kid being high on the list. I wasn't suggesting that guns were to blame, exactly, just saying that they're the best. :|

At the end of the day, I think one thing we can all agree upon is FUCK MURDER.
Because that's what this was, murder. :(
I don't understand what makes someone think they are in the position to choose when someone else's life ends. It really blows my mind.
