Just got back from a festival screening of Big Man Japan and my mind is officially blown. One of the most original films I've seen in a long time. It's absurd, touching, comedic, and ... oh yeah... GIANT MONSTER FIGHTS! Any more description and I'd mess it up. I think it's going to get wider domestic distribution later in the year through Magnolia Pictures so be on the lookout.
I just saw some clips from this and it looks AMAZING! I gotta get back to Austin and catch this. I miss home anyway. Perfect excuse to make a day trip!
Just ran across some clips from this on Youtube. Never heard of it b4. So damn weird. Especially the "baby" that bites his nipple. Need to see this now. Nothing but teases on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-zyKJ28x9Y&NR=1
Looks like it may get a limited release this May according to Yahoo movies. http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1809865291/info
I saw this back in June at the New York Asian Film Fest. Definitely fun, and comedic nod to Tokusatsu shows. I can't imagine that most american audiences will "get it" though if you don't immerse yourself in Japanese monster culture. Here's a good write up and trailer for those who are interested: http://www.subwaycinema.com/index.php?o ... &Itemid=92
This looks awesome. Now I just need to find a way to watch more than just the clips on youtube. That comb-over is hillarious.
