Hope everybody's weekend was good. Lets have ourselves a Merry Monday, right? So yeah, thing one was fun to do, and expensive. I saw one of those larger SKullmerry's and realized "Hey I like that Skull Head better then the small skullmerry head." So I bought a big skullmerry (a pink one) and then while I was waiting for it, asked the important question, whether or not it would fit... Turns out after a little cutting it fits fine, and looks not too bad, right? I had fun painting this one; the body is translucent which you can't really see in these pictures, but then held up to the light the color is a bit like dry blood. I'd like to paint another one of these, but I doubt it'll happen unless SB releases a cheaper large Skullmerry, but if not, its still neat. Thanks for looking. Feedback is always welcome. phil
Phil, I like that "bathed in blood" look on the front of the skull, but would like to see some color in the teeth and a bit more in the body---and maybe a shot with the light coming through, as it really doesn't appear to be translucent at all from these shots. Some light rub on the horns to add texture might be interesting as well. Overall, I like the figure, and the head is better than the original...hard not to like a skull with horns! Also, I am enjoying the one per day format, although posting all in one thread would help keep everything together...maybe put up a group retrospective someplace when you are all done. Keep up the good work! Scott
Thanks for the ideas everybody. Maybe a touch of gold like Backtrack said. I'll let you know what I do, nothing today though. I've got to be in work a little bit. But I did take two more pictures to illustrate the see-throughness of it, plus the gold in the eye-socket.
Reminds me of the red monk on Resident Evil 4, pretty nifty head swap you did there. Can't believe it worked out.
yeah! for real me too the only thing that bothers me is how plain the trunks are - i like the body treatment and the head is sick! those jet black plain trunks are wreckin it for me.......but i have no suggestion on how to fix it either so ill go fuck myself in the corner I guess - what else you got for us Phil?
I like the head, but the body is boring to me. although the body does show restraint, which I always admire in airbrushing.
I dunno about the trunks- I chose to leave them plain. Some of the figures I envision wearing pants or whatever, and for some like this one its less clothing and more spirit/creature/whatever... And I couldn't image a demon with the head of a bull skull wearing clothes... =) PLus for me, with a lot of these figures, it seems that the head draw the most attention... But I'm glad you guys like at least part of it. Manimal, there is still some more. Plus, I'm taking some of this advice to heart and will be making some changes to some of my pieces. I'll keep everyone updated. phil
