The black and grey colorways are the best, in my opinion. They make the battleship look believable enough and work well with the monster beneath.
Beautiful Lixx, just beautiful. I am so happy that you were finally able to track one of these guys down. I hope you have some more luck come through in scoring the other version too. Now to come over and play with it myself...
Yeah it's really hard to put down especially when it's on my computer desk. I keep picking it up in wonder! It looks huge in the pics but it's not that big at all. Perfect size IMO. I always regretted not getting one of these when they came around in 2008. I especially wanted the brown one. I saw one appear around halloween on YJA but last I checked it was 12500 yen and going...The color on this one is really nice. Battleship grey vinyl, dark brown, with gold, mauve and blue highlights. I hope if I can't score the blue to at least see pics of one unwrapped here!
It is definitely hard to put down. Got my (grail) ship in 2009 and I'm still playing with it. After seeing how great the grey one looks in your pics, I really can't wait to receive mine. My armada of evil will soon be complete.
I agree. And Lixx's reason is completely justifiable, but looking back over SB as a database is sad when so many pictures have disappeared. Here's a old pic of mine to add this colorway back to the feeding frenzy. And Congratulations on your 1st Yamaton, Glenn. One of the best vinyl toys out there.
Arrgh, it's driving me crazy that I can't remember - What illustrations were they that inspired Yamaton the toy? And pics too please. I can remember what they look like, but the series and ALL words related escape me. Thank You in advance!
Thank You, Guillame. Such a strong character was begging to be made into a toy. Do you recall what it's from / who did it?
[/quote] Congrats Glenn! Been waiting to see a pic as well. Love how the tail is mounted upside down on this version. Gives it a more aggressive look, along with the blacked out conning tower and bridge.
^ Isn't that drawing from the Kazuo Umezu Ultra manga? Or maybe not. Hard to find stuff. http://blogs.yahoo.co.jp/nsrpp579/62169231.html
That's the one, although this is the first I've seen complete pages, and not just removed panels. Ha, I guess it saved time by illustrating close-ups? Thank You, Rei! It's nice to see this information here. They're really cool, bud.
