friday at the silent movie theater sid and marty krofft festival!!!

"Land of The Lost". "Lidsville". "The Bugaloos" and more! With their day-glo landscapes, cardboard set pieces, and colorful cavalry of life-size puppet creatures, the loveably warped works of Sid and Marty Krofft are a picture window onto a bygone era of adventurous American children's programming. From a land lost in time to a land inhabited by walking, talking hats, to a kiddy show starring (yes, really) Richard Pryor and his foam-formed friends, part of the joy of revisiting the Kroffts' wacky high-concept, low-budget universe is marveling at a time when shows like these were not only green-lit but widely successful. Armed with a contagious sense of childlike make-believe, these shows never fail to warm the most hardened heart -- so take a trip with us, as we guide you to our favorite locales in the Krofft cornucopia, capped off by a 35mm show of Pufnstuf, the rarely-screened 1970 feature version of perhaps their most influential and mind-blowing creation, "H.R. Pufnstuf".
Pufnstuf Dir. Hollingsworth Morse, 1970, 35mm, 98 min.

Hey, I'm opening up my studio for the Brewery Artwalk this weekend. 690 Moulton Ave, Unit B. Come on down. I've got a few MISHKA Nag shirts for sale, along with the usual art stuff.

No sarcasm or 'snark' intended but that sounds like a cool concept and a mighty generous offer . . .

Any good places to get french toast? I know I can probably yelp it, but I'd like to know if anybody here has found any gold mines.

    So far i've been to:
    Marstons
    Foxy's
I forget the other spot in Glendale.

^ BeaBea's in Burbank is f-ing awesome for breakfast. They're french toast is great, I'd recommend the crunchy corn flakes, pumpkin, or Hawaiian Bread. I've just about eaten them all and they're fantastic. They're only open till 4 daily though.

Auntie Em's in Eagle Rock has an excellent french toast, plus the waitstaff is cute and tattooed, and it is owned by Terri from the Red Aunts!

I've been always curious about this spot. Wasn't sure if it was a bakery, diner, or just some coffee shop. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm on the journey for the best French Toast in LA.

    Here's my list so far:
    Black Cat Cafe
    Bea Bea's
    Auntie Em's

    How bout:
Griddle Cafe on Sunset (Cornflake French Toast), Marstons-Pasadena (Cornflake French Toast), Julienne's-South Pasadena (Bread Pudding French Toast with fresh Peach Sauce), Fred 62 in Los Feliz(They have 5 different FT choices). Also the spot I work at-Ammo Cafe for brunch- has a nice cardamom custard brioche soaked french toast with seasonal house-made preserves(straw-rhubarb right now)-but that's if you want something more traditional/simpler. The rest (besides Julienne's) is more diner-y, fun, and sugary! All depends on what floats your boat! Good luck on your search-that's a tough one!

I'll have to agree with you guys, I love the Corn flaked french toast.

Here are some pics of my french toast from Black Cat Cafe and Auntie Em's.

Black Cat Cafe, was ok, the whipped cream was the best part of the meal IMO. I did get a chance to sample the waffles which were excellent. I wouldn't order the french toast from here again.

Auntie Em's: Honey Orange French Toast topped with Berries & Powdered Sugar. Very happy with this meal, I would definitely come back.

I like the slight crunch from cornflake french toast-really can't beat that-since most are soggy in a bad way!
That french toast from auntie em's looks really good! Looks like it got a good fry on it!

What's everyone's favorite L.A. spot to eat at-just curious! Am always looking for a good spot to try out.
