So I dug up my vintage Toho kaiju posters. These are all original / vintage Japanese release posters NOT reprints, printed in Japan. Sizes for these are 20" x 29" known as "B2" size posters and also the most common poster size in Japan. What I really admire about Japanese movie posters in general, is their mastery of typography along with the ability to create fantastic photo collages within their designs.

    1972 - Destroy All Monsters
The film was released in 1968 then re-released in Japan in 1972.
In my opinion the '72 re-release poster is far superior in design than the '68 poster.

I also dug up a few other gems including this original 1968 US release six sheet poster for Barbarella. The pic is't mine but that's my poster, when all six pieces / sheets are put together (thus the term six sheet), it measures a whopping *81" x 81"! The painting is by one of my favorite old school illustrators "Robert McGinnis" who is notably known for also painting most of the Sean Connery James Bond Posters.

those are incredible Ralph. I have a reprint of that goji v. gigan poster, along with several other reprints in my office, but to have the real deal is just awesome. And I seriously have to find a copy of that barbarella poster some day. illustrated posters are just so much cooler than what we get these days.

Very cool, I have browsed a few Kaiju posters here and there, but always felt like they were the last thing I need to start collecting. The Barbarella piece is just amazing. That is one a few films I could watch endlessly and never tire.

    Great poster Ralph!

I love the way each character is labeled.

Did you ever see "Danger Diabolik"? It's a Mario Bava classic which also stars John Phillip Law. It's a fun, heist, romp that has spectacular "mod" sets and designs. It's another flick worth watching over and over. I have the six sheet for that poster as well but not a good pic of it, below is the one sheet. The style of the art really looks like it could be Robert McGinnis but I've never confirmed that.

Without a doubt Ryan, I'd love to see more illustrated posters for todays films.
One sheet posters for Barbarella are fairly common, and in today's economy you may be able to find one at a decent price.

Amazing; I'm totally jealous. I collect vintage posters (mostly US inserts and lobby cards for 60's - 70's films) so I know how difficult finding them in good shape can be. The main problem is finding space to display them - unless you've got a massive house (which we don't). Plus I can't begin to imagine what it would cost to frame a six-sheet - one-sheets are pricey enough. Great collection, though.

The posters are in pristine condition, some rolled. Space...yeah...I don't have room to display anything so all this stuff has been in tubes or bins stored for years. I used to have old stone litho posters, three sheets, lobby cards...I even had a six sheet of "Earth vs the Flying Saucers" which would be worth a small fortune now.

Those are great! Is it possible to find any w/out folds? (Or is that a red flag for copy/bootleg?)
(and Diabolik rocks - like a fusion of 60's James Bond & Lupin)

I want a copy of the Godzilla Vs. Megalon poster for my living room so bad, but the only place I've ever seen it is a vintage poster place that had the original for $350- I'd be happy with a reprint. If anyone knows a place I could get a reprint please let me know!
