Some great stuff lately. @deafmetal Really like the patina on that minya, probably the best one ive seen. Makes him look extra creepy. @Lixx thats a great devilman boot. The only other one im really after if the removable mask dogface. The mini is just too expensive now.
Jonathan, I wonder why the mini dogface devilman commands such a premium? The standard dogfaces (non removable mask) seem so common, in fact there are many around bagged still. Maybe they were not made in large numbers? I'm forever grateful I got a deal- and with Mandarake the kings of jacked pricing no less! Are you after this (green) patchi in removable mask form? I think both bootleg patchi removable mask devilman were made in a lot lower numbers. Lol, I wonder if there is a mini removable mask dogface no one knows about? I think we would have heard by now.
Thank you all for the very kind comments. I am really enamored with the Minya. I also like reading the descriptions of "wabi sabi" and "patina", as they sound much better than the realities of grease and tar, haha. I have to say that the little beast smells pretty rank, but I have found a decent solution for this situation. I will place a smelly toy outside (not in direct sunlight, of course) in the summer air 24/7 for two or three weeks and it works wonders, even for toys that reek of cigs. I am not sure if it's the local PacNW climate or what, but I have been impressed with the results. Little Minya is out on my back patio right now de-fumigating... just hope he doesn't wander off.
Some folks bury their smelly toys in (fresh!) cat litter for a while. Very absorbent, evidently. Also, Mr. Humphreys has a very knowledgeable talk in the Mo' Buta thread of Show Your Collection. Me? I just let them baste in their own evil and funk. Bwahahaha.
Bored at home with the flu . Not the best photo, but here is a followup to the uncocooned monsters Apologies, haven't had a chance to take them outside for a decent snapshot
Beautiful. Who's the long-necked kaiju dead center, all the way in the back? I feel like I need that in my life.
Yep! Thanks Michael! Amazingly this pod of monsters came from a single seller's multiple auctions, all due on the same day! Prices were pretty decent (well as vintage prices go! ). A big hug and thank you, to my dear Toy Angel, for some great advice and detailed observations! The vintage market can be quite tricky!
Grace, thank you for posting a photo, and I hope you are able to kick that flu to the curb right away. I can't believe you scooped all of those on the same day! Awesome score all around. It looks like a kaiju class reunion up there.
Amazing group @Mr. Humphreys Grace, thanks for sharing. For me the winners are Demora and that beautiful red Magular.
That is an incredible grouping of lovelies, Gracie! I can't believe they all came from the same seller. Toy collector, remains from childhood, or a mass purchase off someone I wonder? In any case, very well hunted and brought home. I am sure you snagged some real bargains there, but even at clearout prices, that is a lot to drop in one day. Your heart must have been pounding like mad that day, with these all ended together, I can barely take the stress of one vintage auction when I am bidding!
@Mr. Humphreys - Wow tons of great stuff. You can find and afford to get all that, but not a Booska Cisco of YJA?
I think she must be waiting until there is a family 7+ (or box full! ) to adopt a litter of Bookas in one go. Who knows, maybe she needs one to be a companion to every one of her [Tiger] kittehs.
Thanks for all the nice comments! They all cleaned up very nicely, and they look great in a group together. It was a whopper to drop all that cash at once, but I had to break the bank for some nice prices. Correction, I checked my toy ledger, and the auctions ended in two groups, not one (sorry about that!). My graily grail would be a standard Bullmark Sufenodon, but they are scarcer than cat eggshell eggs. Anthony! I would dearly love to find a set of Cisco Booskas, but haven't had any luck Perhaps I'm not using the correct search kanji string?
I've always been tempted by the Gokinosaurus, but it's soooooo different from everything else in terms of design and color. I LOVE that version of Gudon. Such a great fun sculpt.
Great haul scott. Lots of fun stuff. I like the little kame bazooka bendy, what the story with that one, is it old?
This package is one of those that I have waited most anxiously and not because it is something spectacular or out of the ordinary, but by the circumstances that surrounded it, some of you already know the story. Apparently they hate me because they sent me a simple paper envelope or want to test me. But in spite of everything the figure is what I expected and I am very happy that finally it´s at home. (I will try to upload some better photos later)
@Alebrije WTF is that? Seriously? You're lucky that arrived in one piece. That's equivalent to going to the grocery store getting a paper bag filled with groceries and sending it on a plane half way across the world.
@Alebrije - Wow, Roger, did Buyee really ship your vintage goji in a padded envelope? Now I will never plan to use them. That is just irresponsible. Rant aside, that looks like a shiny Bullmark hiding in there, and I can't wait to see more photos. Congrats on getting through such an ordeal, and finally receiving your auction win!
Nice! And glad to hear you received it after all your issues - that is certainly nerve-wracking. It looks like a beautiful specimen. I really need to upgrade mine. It's been a long time since I received a package. Here is the initial shot. More to follow - I kind of like seeing what people could ID through the bubble wrap. Also, I don't want to distract too soon from Alebrije's great pickup and his reveal. But I just picked this up from the post office this morning and it includes one of my initial grails since I started collecting many, many years ago. Too excited not to share now.
