^ having a toy waiting for you at a new home is the frikkin' best. It makes the new strange space instantly feel like home. I always do this during a move, including overseas ones : ).

I ended up doing the same thing on our west to east coast move. Some of the stuff was pre-orders and I was worried the post would not forward it correctly. It was nice having something to look forward to on the 15+ hours a day I would spend driving (that and looking up off the road dinners and burger joints).

I once went to a show where there were only 40 of an exclusive, at rotofugi. I was about to drive to Chicago with a fellow collector-when he asked me if I minded if he brought his cousin. I agreed, and went to pick them up. When I got there his cousin was a complete piece of shit human. In 5 minutes of listening to him talk I ended throwing him up against the wall and saying, "this is my fucking vacation, and if you think I'm bringing either of you, you're crazy". Then I left. The friend called me back and said he sent his cousin home and begged me to come back-so I reluctantly came back to get him, but we left late from home.

Chicago traffic is/was INSANE and I ended up pulling into the parking spot by roto pretty close to lottery line time. They handed out the line tickets and I was getting nervous, counting heads. Well, I got #39 out of 40! My friend got #40 because I ran and he didn't, but we got the last 2 tickets.

Fast forward and we get to the counter and the girl says "I'm sorry, they are out." I pleaded my case but to no avail. I was shit out of luck. No exclusive for either of us.

I met a girl that night too, and when I turned around, she stole my stuff and tried to lure me to her hotel room to get it back. Twas a effing nightmare. HOWEVER-Rotofugi refunded me all that she stole from from me because Roto is awesome, and they found out who she was and she mailed the stuff back to them.

When I got home, I wrote a letter to the artist and..... he ended up getting me one of the exclusives on the downlow, so it all worked out.

Then I called the girl and went over to see her. I opened the door and she straight up exposed her bemon.

I went to McDonald's before and got a Happy Meal with a sweet Curious George toy. True story!

Quentor... That is one clusterfuck of a story.
But at least you got your exclusive and a full-frontal bemon, right?

Back when I was little I would always ask for the "boy toy" from McDonald's when they would do that gender split bullshit. Back then I hated pink, dolls, etc, and had an obsession with toy cars and Duplo blocks... So boy toy it was.
Well, sometimes the McDonald's would be out of boy toys and throw a girl toy in there without telling us. I'd be disappointed as all hell when I would dig through my Happy Meal and pull out a Barbie.
My mom, being the awesomely dysfunctional woman she is, would remedy that disappointment by placing the Barbie under the wheel of our car when we got home, and back over it while I screamed with glee.

    Mom raised me right.
