I picked up this amazing Saeki book in Kinokuniya New York this afternoon. Beautifully printed, I just can't get enough of Saeki's work. Thought I'd share some first quick shots, apologies for the bad quality of the pics but it hardly gets better than this. Hope you'll enjoy.
Wow, very interesting work! I'd be interested in buying the book myself to take a gander at the rest of it!
^^ That looks like a great book! I'd never heard of Toshio Saeki before - thanks for the introduction . . . . I'm a big fan of Suehiro Maruo and Atsushi Kaneko (who also have a penchant for weird stuff)
You're more than welcome. I first got into his work a few years ago when I first saw this poster in Shinjuku: Needless to say it was pretty much love at first sight Here are some of his more refined works: http://designcollector.net/toshio-saeki/ I've only found a few Japanese sketch book editions but browsing I've just realized he's also published some books in the US: http://www.akatako.net/lib/toshio-saeki ... bliography http://www.lastgasp.com/pre/onikage/ I can't but recommend guys, especially if you're into the work of artists like Maruo
I've got a book of his early works (french edition I think, I'll have to check). This is the first time I see some with colours. Pretty nice !
I just ordered on amazon: Onikage: The Art of Toshio Saeki I've had a look on google images and his art is exactly the kind of stuff I love . . . thanks again for the heads up! I'm surprised I hadn't heard of him before . . .
Thanks for sharing this. These books are definitely something I would love to have. I am sure it is bizarre but I like Ukiyo-e art. No cash right now, but it is most certainly going on my wish list.
He's among my favorites but never thought of sharing before, glad you appreciate his work This is the kind of stuff I like to discover on SB so glad to share too
Saeki Toshio - Last Gasp by The Moog Image Dump, on Flickr Just got 'Onikage: The Art of Toshio Saeki ' in the post. I'm really impressed with both the quality of the book and the artwork inside it . . . . definitely gonna be checking out more of his work
