Getting rid of Yakupov will probably do a lot of the Oilers along with the addition of Lucic. I think with McLellan as coach, the Oilers will do much better.
World Cup was pretty good. I wish the NA team was more successful. Finland was a huge disappointment.

Well I'm finally going to a game! My sis bought me a ticket for the Bruins vs Flyers tonight in Philadelphia. Ironic that back in the early 90's (when nobody liked hockey and tickets were cheap) I used to see games at the old Spectrum all the time (when Boston had Neely, Oates, Bourque etc). So here I am over 25 years later going into a new arena (Wells Fargo) but watching my B's play my old nemesis team the Flyers. Wearing my Bruins jersey hopefully no one will try to fuck with me.

Definitely forgoing my diet to hit up the Shake Shack!

I am absolutely outraged by today's complete nerfing of the NHL by Bettman and Co. I don't give a flying fuck what your stance is on fighting in the NHL, as long as it's not staged fights by two goons and there is an actual cause and effect going on from something that happened during the game I'm 500% behind fighting. If you don't like it go watch fucking ice capades!

Something happened in the Bruins- Sabres game last night I saw this morning that made me see red. Nevermind it's my fave team (Bruins) battling the Sabres from a city I used to live in and hate (Buffalo) if you like hockey this should not happen and shame on the NHL for allowing it. I get refs have a tough job but not letting McQuaid and Carrier go (and Carrier laid a vicious blindside head hit on Backes earlier in the game and needed to answer for it) and by holding McQuaid so he basically was defenseless is inexcusable. WTF? Let them fight. I have no doubt McQuaid would have cleaned his clock. On top of it they give McQuaid a 2 ,5 , and a 10 misconduct. WTF Bettman?

Well well Sabres, guess where you play next on NYE which is tomorrow? That's right in Boston motherfuckers- payback is a b*tch.

    Same here!

Hey when Krug nailed Shaw in the last Hab-B's battle I knew he would have to answer the bell for that one. Gallagher totally rag dolled him later on and won. Fair play and the refs let them fight. It stemmed from the big hit he put on Shaw. No staged fight, two guys of equal size- and they let them go. That's how it should be. But what the refs did in Buffalo is bonkers. McQuaid gets pummled while being held defenseless and now that Carrier guy is hurt and out as well because his hand came in at a weird angle and caught the visor.

I'm a bit of a hockey poser...my wife is a lifelong Penguins fan, being from Pittsburgh. Lately we've really been enjoying AHL games in Cleveland, the Cleveland Monsters, farm team for the Columbus Bluejackets. Maybe I'll see some of you at a game.

Uggghhh Bruins fired Claude Julien. Big mistake on their part but I guess you can't replace a whole team so it's an easy out. Neely + Sweeney were incredible players on the B's back in the day but they are horrific at managing this team. Chiarelli was fired and made piss poor decisions on signing some bottom 6 players to high long term contracts which killed their cap, but ultimately some of those horrible trades, cap relief had Neely & Co all over them.

I love Claude and he won't be unemployed for long. So basically the Bruins are going to be basement dwellers for years to come now. Good going guys- you had an incredible team and you ruined it. At least we got another cup in my lifetime.

Hey, I would welcome him back in Montreal at this point. Unfortunately coaches get all the blame and are first to go, when almost always the problems lie further one up the chain. If teams were smart, they'd really do re-evaluations from a top down structure - but then they would have to admit that the GMs (likely themselves, because how much say do the owners have, really) don't know what they're doing.

NHL. The worst sport to be a coach. Although it is nice to know coaches that get fired usually find a new team pretty quick.

One thing I'm really interested to see is who Las Vegas picks up.

I guess you can blame me, whichever way it turns out. I think this could be good for the team - certainly it won't be worse - but I would really like to see is building a team around Julien's style; add some strength and size, so that Price is left holding up the tent at the back, not to mention defend the poor guy. We still need offense, same as always, but I would love to see the players inspired by the play he brought to their rivals, and take this change as a positive moving forward. This is cyclical though, so who knows what could happen. He has certainly grown since he was there last though, and even then, the Gainey switch never really did make sense. Alas, if only I could now have Bergevin swapped out for another choice from the league, then we could really start building something.

Be careful what you wish for Habs fans! You might end up with someone worse! Everyone thought Chiarelli was the problem in Boston and yes he gave some bonehead contracts out to bottom 6 forwards that handicapped the team cap-wise when we really needed to sign the real talent, BUT ultimately I think the decisions were made higher up by Neely and his cabal. Now I love Cam Neely the player, but fucking hell- he is the worst president for the B's. Sweeney, his new GM and partner in crime, does not know what the hell he is doing (are we rebuilding are be being competitive?)!

I won't rehash the myriad of bad moves that lead a championship caliber team that the Bruins were (see two cup appearences, one cup, and a president's trophy) to this dumpster fire we are now (Ahem Seguin trade, Boychuck trade, inability to keep lynchpins in younger talent, no defense- corps getting older) but both Chiarelli and Julien lost their jobs because they were fall guys for the real incompetence issues further up the food chain.

Claude Julien is a fucking saint and at least kept the Bruins in contention till the end of each season the past 3 years with a really really sub-par roster. I mean come on if Bergeron, Marchand, Pasternak, Rask and Eriksson were not around this team would be below the Buffalo Sabres all year. Julien gets the most out of what he has to work with to his credit!

Can we just rename this thread Bruins vs Canadiens lol?

Well apparently that coaching change was needed because Cassidy has the Bruins playing like a well oiled machine!

And can we just say Marchand 'the little ball of great' for Hart (MVP)? Love him or hate him the guy is magical on the ice. Never quits on a play, leaves the defense in fits, is great at penalty killing (again leading in short handed goals), and the Bruins would be packing their golf clubs if it wasn't for him.

Argh, sucks to see Montreal give up three straight to NY to be knocked out. Not that I realistically saw them having the depth to go all the way, but they're still my team, so seeing them exit first round is rough no matter what. We still need a top-tier forward, and I don't know how all these years of relying on strong backstopping from one of the league's best an a heavy lineup of D hasn't shown that that isn't sufficient in today's NHL; you need scoring as well. And I don't think in this case NY was the better team either; the games were close and could have easily shifted if a couple bounces had gone our way instead. Unfortunately, we just didn't seem to get those breaks in the series. Well, got to cheer on the Oilers now.

Well I'm watching my B's today at 3pm and even though I'm hoping against hope they pull it out we just are beyond hurt on D (down 3 defencemen), lost Krejci, and have no secondary scoring. Ottawa is a bit dirty I'm sorry! Chirping injuring Krejci was classless. I fucking hate the Senators. For some reason I'm totally OK with western Canada hockey teams but not so much in the east. As I also hate Toronto. I'm pulling for the Oilers if the B's don't make it. Can't have Crosby win it again.

I was really hoping the Habs pulled it out also so we'd have the crazy storyline of Julien vs his old team.

So much for all these moves to promote equity among the teams, eh? I am sure that most people in the NHL - with the exception of the a few of the other GMs perhaps - would want nothing better though, sadly. And even to see them in another final, as much as I bear no ill will against the team, is going to do the same. Still pulling for another surprise run by Edmonton.

Well according to the NHL only a few players make up the NHL- Crosby, Ovechkin, or whatever young rookie they've latched onto- i.e. McDavid, Matthews. I think its written into any TV/Media contract they have to talk about these playeres incessantly. Team sport in hockey havens? Hell no, individuals and in cities where no one gives a fuck about hockey- i.e. Las Vegas, Columbus, Nashville, Florida, Carolina etc.

Fucking hell Bettman, fuck your parity leading to a watered down league and give cities like Quebec City a team back!

I guess the Pens are going to win the Cup this season. Maybe if I jump on their bandwagon, I can bring them some bad luck. It would be just as bad for me if the Ducks win the cup.

The Pens can't win another cup. I'm sorry Crosby isn't as good as everone makes him out to be, and all I ever see is a whiny brat who is constantly yapping at the refs. How bad are the Capitals? Seriously every year you're the President's Trophy winner and dominate the league and then choke big time. Break that fucking team up already, give Ovechkin a chance to win somewhere else.

Who to root for now? When the B's went down I began rooting for the Oilers and I can't believe they choked to the shitty Ducks (can't stand Getzlaf, Kesler, and Perry). I hate Nashville (fucking hate Subban and Neal), so I guess I can only root for the true underdog (and team that beat the Bruins) the Ottawa Senators. Karlsson deserves it.

If it ends up Pens/Ducks it will be a serious douchebag convention and I'll refuse to watch the finals for the first time in 15 years.
