I just had to post this pic I saw on a Bruins blog:

What's not to love? GOT and Neely having his revenge. Highlight of the Stanley Cup playoffs even though we lost the cup (well this and the Indiana Jones Grail cup gif with Jerome Iginla!- he choose poorly)

Who's carefully watching the draft/slash trade buyouts all day? I keep refreshing sources but I hate this trickle of info. I hope everything blows up soon before the draft. Looks like the B's are losing Horton (good luck whoever gets him, guy is very injury prone) and maybe trading Seguin. Ehhhh, only if we get someone good an a great draft pick.

I always follow the trades pretty closely, but it has been years since Montreal has done any moves of worth in the off-season, and then it is only to dump players. Not expecting a whole lot more this year. There will be a lot of calls for Lecavalier of course, but that deal should have happened a long time ago, if at all - now I am not so sure.

And as usual, the draft wheelings and dealings seem a bit overanxious. Here is the draft order this year for anyone interested. Honestly, I have always felt the draft order is a total crapshoot; and history supports that pretty well I think. For a team like Calgary to give up three first round picks just to land the number one spot (which is what they are trying to do) is senseless. There are never any guarantees. And I would much rather take my chances on adding three young talents to the base than gambling it all for one player that might end up being a star. But then, I am not an NHL GM.

I am also still following the Phoenix situation very closely. Bettman has caved in and finally gave an ultimatum for the 4th of July. He might be just be trying to bluster and force Glendale's hand, but either way, what is said is said. If it goes south and he backs down, he will look like an ever more unquestionable jackass than before.

I'm hoping they move to Seattle or Quebec City (and become the Nordiques again!). West seems more likely a scenario with realignment. Whatever they do bury the dumb Coyotes name.

Yeah top draft picks can go either way (bust or a good player). I mean in the last twenty years only about 9 actually became superstars. Some real diamonds have been found in late rounds.

Hahaha, just read that the Coyotes signed G Mike Smith to a six-year contract! What a joke. Good luck with that. And way to handicap the team if it does move. Quebec or Seattle I would be fine with. Let's just give up on the desert and start focusing on the next teams that need to fold.

I already love Habs first draft Mike McCarron ! He did a very good impression on me in his first interview on RDS, hope we see him soon in the rink.

Seattle would be great! I think an NHL team would do well there since they already have a WHL team.
I used to follow the draft years ago. I even read up on who's who for the draft year. Now I'm just more interested in the trades that go on although a lot of people have said, this draft season is really good and you can't go wrong in, at least, the first 2 rounds. Only time will tell if these drafted players will pan out.

I am so happy to hear the news this morning that the NHL and Glendale have finally solved the problem with the team. All along fans, economists, the taxpayers of Glendale, other NHL, etc., owners were so silly in thinking that the problem was trying to bring hockey to desert - when all along it was just a silly name. Now we have the Arizona Coyotes, and everything will be just hunky dory. Five year saga finally solved.

Solved at the expense of the poor Glendale taxpayers. I guarantee some council members hands were greased for that 4-3 vote. Now the billionaire owners and politicians can run to the bank while Glendale foots the bill. What a racket.

Damn the Bruins just traded Seguin for Eriksson of the Dallas Stars. Not sure how I feel about this one. Seguin struggled this year, especially in the playoffs but every player has bad years right? He's only 21 and has a hell of a lot of potential. That cap is really breaking up teams this year. We did get rid of Peverley in the deal though and got some prospects, so that will free up a lot of cap space to lock up Rask, Bergeron, and potential another RW with Horton leaving. I feel like my team is being dismantled but I'm looking on the bright side since Horton is often injured and Seguin hasn't been doing it.

Meanwhile the Habs continue their trend of picking up the discards of other teams, and small players at that. They ought to have picked up Brière in '07 if they really wanted him; last time I looked at the calendar it is now 2013. :? Looks like another season of more of the same.

I know I'm dreaming but I'd love to see the B's get David Clarkson. Then I'd be beyond psyched for next season!

Can I ask a question about the Habs? Why oh why do they always have to go for players based on if they are French Canadian or not? Seems like it's their number one criteria! WTF? Briere at this point in his career? I think Briere is a great clutch playoff player but he is way past his prime and often injured. I knew the Habs would make a play for Letang and Lecavalier, and those might have been good signings, but it's always back to the player has to be French Canadian. I get the rabid fan base love this but did the Habs not get the memo it's a multi national player league these days?

For the sake of my own sanity, I am going to assume that is a rhetorical question and try not to think about it (as I have been for years now). I assume they got the memo, since I mail one to them monthly, yet they just choose to ignore it. The status quo has been working very well for them so far....right........right................anybody? :|

With Brière on board, the Habs have 3 Quebecers now (and guys from 8 or 9 nationalities), so it's not worth having a stroke over.
Seriously, it's important to have some players that speaks the tribe dialect, for public relation$.

Oh, I don't care either way - they can all speak Dothraki as far as I am concerned, I just want players who can make something happen on the ice. I have always appreciated when we have a strongly international team, but dammit, get some guys who are committed to the organisation and can score some goals. I think the priority should always be on getting the best talent, coaches or players.

I am also fine, given what we have done so far, with trying to rebuild with youth. It makes for some tough seasons as a fan, but is worth it when you have a strong coherent team. The Habs have such strong development, but we have a very poor history of holding on to guys once they make the majors, and these kind of pickups seem shortsighted at best (paging Scott Gomez  ).

I think it also has to do with pride and tradition as well as being able to communicate with the masses. It would have been great if the Habs got Letang. They need more gritty players but they also need some size. I like Briere but yeah, he's getting up there in age. When you look at someone like Jagr, as strong and as great as his hands are, he does have a difficult time playing with kids half his age. Briere probably has a couple good years left in him but like my dad asked me about my older brother "...he seems to be injured all the time. Is it because of the position he plays?" ...my bro plays goal...I told my dad "No...I think he's just getting old..." and he laughs cause he knows my older brother is just a year older than me. Anyway, Habs seem to pick up players either too late in their careers or give them away too early. Oddly enough, the Sharks also seem to follow the same trend as the Habs, and with Thorton and Marleau getting older, it makes me wonder who will fill their void up front. Pavs (28) and Couture (24) are good players but they can't carry the team. Oh wait...Sharks also have Gomez... :(

Horton went to the Bluejackets?! Wow talk about not ever wanting to play in the post season ever again. They won't even get him playing till December with shoulder surgery. Wuss with no heart IMO. He wanted to go some place quiet...hell don't play hockey then pansy.

Ference went to Edmonton. Should help that team out.

Alfredsson to Detroit. That guy can still bring it but I thought Detroit needed to get younger?

Emery goes to Philly for a one year contract. At least they didn't do a long term deal, Flyers always get the shaft on goaltenders.

Macarthur to Ottawa and Riberio to Phoenix.

    EDIT: Toronto got Clarkson. Damn!

Sens get Bobby Ryan. That's a good way to fill the gap that Alfredsson left.
Habs get Parros. Much needed toughness.
    TB picks up Filppula.
Wow...Preds pick up some decent players...V. Stalberg, Nystrom, Cullen, and Matt Hendricks (dunno who he is).

This next season is going to be interesting.

^^ Hendricks is a pest but a very good pest. He also scores on penalty shots all the time. Played for the Caps.

Man it's like hockey musical chairs with this new cap. I really really hope the Bruins lose slow as hell Jagr and pick up Ryder again maybe. Not sure if I want Iginla's sorry old ass on the team (I hope they don't make a play for him). They need to do something, although it like Team Sweden over there now.

I'm calling it right now. Maple Leafs are the most improved team and are going to really be tough to play against this season. Clarkson, Bolland, TJ Brennan, Bernier (to shore up goaltending), resigning Bozak and they have plenty of room to resign Kadri. If they resign some of those big physical defensemen, yikes. Ottawa also really improved.

Also LMAO as of course the Sabres don't do anything and continue to sit on Miller and Vanek. Yeah Regier, watch the dust collect on your phone.

EDIT: Fuckkkkkkkk we got Iginla. Bad move IMO.

I think Iginla will do well I Boston. They just refused to use him well in Pittsburgh.
